Robert Huth and Vincete Iborra will be avalible after coming through the under 23's game. Kelechi Iheanacho also played and scored in that game. So here is what I would go with Schmeichel Simpson Morgan Maguire Fuchs Mahrez Ndidi Iborra Albrighton Vardy Iheanacho Subs- Hamer, Dragovic, Chilwell, Gray, James, Okazaki, Ulloa
Morgan has got a lot of stuff in his private life going on - Huth played 90 min in the under 23s so might replace him. Is Dragovic injured or something - is notable that he wasn't in the U23 squad when he needs games to get back to match fitness. Could be a good game for Okazaki - I think that we will be getting a lot more possession so having someone panic the opposition when they have the ball might work.
Shaky isn't going to start Iborra after one full 90mins in the U23's. Maybe a 30 min cameo off the bench is more realistic/sensible. I think he may gamble on Iheanacho though and throw him in from the start
Think these are the kind of games we need Iheanacho for, hes used to coming on against teams that have 10 players behind the ball and can find space, if we are going to have alot more possession, then we need him in. Okazaki doesn't look comfortable on the ball when he has it and tries to offload it at the earliest opportunity, which is great for counter play but not for buildup play.
Is Iheanacho actually fit? I know we have used him from the bench but there have been a lot of questions as to whether he is fit. The Udders really press on, and we will need to do the same, so Shinji to start for me
He played 10 odd min in both of Nigeria's games and scored a goal and played 80 min and scored for our u23s so I'd say Iheanacho is close to full fitness if he isn't already. BTW regarding Dragovic - he played in both of Austria's games so apparently was just given time off. Is match fit and will be assigned a squad number soon.
Okazaki, Huth, Iborra and Iheanacho are all fit and available. James has an achilles problem and Fuchs has sustained an injury to his eye whilst training (hit by a big pole but not Wasilewski), so they aren't available. Dragovic is "still behind" on his fitness so not considered for inclusion.
Looks a good formation on paper, but it is untried and untested in what is almost a must-win game to take the pressure off. I would be surprised if he doesn't stick with 4-4-2.
More attacking lineup, but feel we will need it to break down teams we are expected to win against Schmeichel Simpson - Morgan - Maguire - Chilwell Iborra - Ndidi Mahrez - Iheanacho - Gray Vardy Also arguably Chilwell and Gray should have a better understanding with each other.
I want to see Shakespeare do something original but fully expect the same 4-4-2 with King and Okazaki. Preseason was the time for experimenting as well, not competitive games.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Iheanacho get a start tomorrow ... lots of sound bites including LCFC officoal site this week ...
Hard earned point in the end ... without Mahrez we have no invention ... could have won it if Gray had not gone down looking for a pen and had just been brave and finished it ....looked better when Okazaki came on ... but if Shakey thinks starting Kingy is a good idea, I'm worried ... Mooy ran the game for Huddersfield ... get Silva in as soon as possible ffs ...
