    Hoolahan starting up front?

That is my main problem with this, but I suspect some will be dubious about Johnson, he doesn't seem very popular these days! Depends how Hughton plays/who else comes in!

    I would suspect:

    Ruddy
Whittaker Bennett Davies(or other new CB) Tierney
    Fox Johnson
    Bennett Howson Pilkington
    Holt

Although Howson could take Johnson's place, with Butterfield in place of Howson?

obviously very difficult without knowing who is coming in but with what we've currently got i'd expect similar to last season, something along the lines of:

    ruddy
    whittaker r.martin r.bennett tierney
    e.bennett howson fox surman pilkington
    holt

what i'd like to see us try is:

    ruddy
    e.bennett davies r.bennett tierney
    snodgrass howson anita butterfield pilkington
    holt

might not solve the 'goals against' column but bloody hell we'd be exciting to watch! :D

Tasty. Very tasty. probably a good few goals coming from what is basically a front 5! (assuming Anita drops deep)

i like the balance of the team, but its a pipe dream. i really can't see us getting a player of anita's calibre at the moment.

    I still think Anthony Annan!

Would love to see it, imagine the games, using the Barce tactic of scoring more and damn the defence.

Have you tweeted this to McNally & Hughton Superman? Probably scratching their heads so a pointer in the right direction wouldn't come amiss. <laugh>

Pleasantly surprised to see others looking at EB as potentially a brilliant attacking RB. Have been suggesting this on a number of threads and started to think that maybe it was just me. I love the look of Supers team - how good would it be to watch? The combination of pace and skill with the big man's presence up front with Moro/Vaughan to come off the bench. Superb. However I suspect the reality may be a tad more conservative.

I would think they will be this years Swansea. Quality team, well built, and now being added to well. Supposedly its a 4 year deal as well, should make a tidy profit on him! I think as soon as we signed Whittaker we were basically conceding defeat there :(

i think many can appreciate that bennett has the potential to be a very good full back - he is good defensively for a winger - but he'd need that quality holding player to help cover when he bombs on and we just don't have that. i think he'd get caught without one. i know i must sound like a broken record but our defence will look so much more solid with a decent defensive midfielder sitting in front of them! they would give us that balance between attack and defence <ok>

Agree re a DM, but no idea who is available at a price we can afford and at our wage structure.

I'd like us to start with an attacking mentality, so have gone for 2 up front

    Ruddy
    Whittaker, R.Martin, R.Bennett, Tierney
    E.Bennett, Howson, Surman, Pilkington
    Vaughan, Holt

Subs Rudd, Ayala, Fox, Hoolahan and Morro

    Whittaker Davies Bennett Tierney
    Howson
    Bennett Pilkington
    Hoolahan
    Holt Morison

Subs Rudd, Ayala, R.Martin, Butterfield, Jackson

    But who knows, eh?

If we are allowed to include players on the wish list, so far I'm going for two up front, i.e. Inzaghi and Owen, with Del Piero LM, and Woodgate and Sol Campbell in central defence. I can't complete my line up as I'm short of ridiculous suggestions for keeper, full backs and the rest of my midfield. Should be able to complete the side within a few days at the current rate at which ridiculous suggestions keep coming in. Hope you bear with me 'til then. <ok>

The thread was just a view based on current players.
But as we know only too well certain contributors will always
alter the thread to stamp their superior knowledge on us.<grr>

Im fully expecting with the way were looking at midfielders still and we have many already im going to say were going to go either 5 midfielders or 4-3-3 so im going to go for either.

    Ruddy
    Whittaker Bennett Ayala Tierney
    Bennett Howson Fox Johnson Pilkington
    Holt

Or this which i really like the look of

    Ruddy
    Whittaker Bennett Ayala Tierney
    Howson Butterfield Johnson
    Bennett Holt Pilkington

    Or with new additions

    Ruddy
    Whittaker Davies Bennett Tierney
    Howson Butterfield Johnson
    Snodgrass Holt Pilkington

    <ok>

I think we may be quite defensive against Fulham. 2 defensive midfielders and one up front for me.
