Tommorow sees City take on Carlisle in the Capital One cup. City beating Wycombe in the last round with a last minute Sean St. Ledger goal and Carlisle beating Blackburn on penalties after drawing 3-3 after extra time. Carlisle have started their season really badly and if it wasnt for Coventry's points deduction they would be bottom with 1 point and a goal difference of -12. City came through Saturdays game without picking up any injuries but Wes Morgan once again wont be risked. Sean St. Ledger is still a number of weeks away from returning and after last season he wont be rushed back. City will be overwhelming favourites and after what happened against Burton last season we shouldnt be taking Carlisle lightly So here is what I would play Schmeichel De Laet Miquel Whitbread Bakoyogo Marshall Danns Drinkwater Knockaert Wood Waghorn Subs- Logan, Moore, Dyer, King, Nugent, Vardy, Schlupp
On the other hand, Wood could continue to struggle and the game off could disrupt Vardy and cause a dip in form for him, too. I understand the rationale behind playing Wood, I'm just playing Devil's advocate, and think you need the balance between trying to integrate your fringe players into the side and also trying to keep your regulars happy and in form.
I think if we don't see Marshall feature in tomorrows game then it's al over for him here. Shame. I expect Bakayogo and Danns to play and hopefully Miquel too will get a run out. Carlisle are dire at the moment, so expect them now to knock us out on penalties.
Agree that this should be an excuse for Miquel, Danns and Bakayogo to show what they're worth, and I also think Marshall and Knockaert should start to build their confidence. Schmeichel De Laet - Moore - Miquel - Bakayogo Knockaert - Danns - Drinkwater - Marshall Wood - Waghorn
I'd whel out the 3-5-2 for this one Schmeichel De Laet Miquel Whitbread Moore Bakoyogo Marshall Danns Knockaert Wood Vardy
AKCJ why do you always involve Taft? He has never even come close to the first team and I think if he was going to make the step up he would have at least been involved with the first team by now
For the exact reasons you've just said. Lets see how he copes in the first team. It's not the end of the world if we lose. "His distribution has certainly improved and I think he could now play at League Two or even League One level and not look out of place" - Steve Beaglehole. He's consistently impressed for the development side and has been part of the England youth set up for a few years now.
Like it ... but it's a very young back 3 and Carlisle are likely to be aboth experienced and physical ...
4-4-2 tonight? Logan Moore -- Whitbread -- Miquel -- Zoom Knocky -- Drinkwater -- Danns -- Dyer (C) Wood -- Vardy Interesting... Thoughts?
