Right a much better performance against Brighton should see a relatively unchanged side. I think the 4-3-1-2 formation worked well against Brighton but Marshall didnt really find a position or impose himself on the game. There is no injuries or suspensions for the game, with any luck that will change and Harry Kane will break a toe nail and be ruled out. So here is what I would play Schmeichel De Laet Keane Morgan Konchesky King Drinkwater James Knockaert Schlupp Nugent Subs- Logan, Moore, Wellens, Dyer, Marshall, Wood, Waghorn
Ed, just change your username now Unfortunately, while you believe, I'm not sure if I trust you after your previous prediction (your signature)
This would probably be my team too, though I still think Moore deserves a run in the team after 2 good performances at RB since coming in at short notice. Moore for De Laet, and the rest remains the same for me. Nugent is absolutely WASTED out wide, and Schlupp struggles on his own up top. Playing the two of them up front together should kill two birds with one stone.
Not that Nigel will do it but personally I'd like to see ... (and note young Joe Dodoo as a sub to get some time) Schmeichel Moore Keane Morgan De Laet James Drinkwater King Knockaert (free role to drift wide and take people on down both flanks - but predominantly left with De Laet to raid down the right) Wood Schlupp Subs: Logan, Waghorn, Nugent, Wellens, Konchesky, Joe Dodoo, Dyer
I'd be happy with that line up, although I'm not sure about RDL at left back. Mind you I'm not overly keen on any of our options at LB except Schlupp but I feel he's slightly wasted that far back.
.. just the way I've written it - see comments against Knocky - De Laet is more of a converted winger IMO and his real value is not in defending but getting down the right flank and swinging the ball in - with 3 central mids one of them should be covering for him getting forward - would play Liam Moore left back because he is solid anywhere in the back line...
Because our actual LB is Paul Konchesky Just joking, I think he's been okay for us, solid player. Probably his last season for us, mind.
... guess you know what's coming ... because Konchesky is not a very good left back ... and if the baldy twonk gives away a needless penalty between now and he end of the season I will personally lay him out on the pitch ...
Konchesky is a decent player but his tackling at times is appaling. It commits fully into everything and if the opposition player gets the ball first then Konch will end up taking the man. Leading to cards, free kicks and peno's His wages make him surplus to requirements. If he was on an average wage I would mind him staying
I would assume that the players that have stayed have either agreed to paycuts or Pearson thinks they are worth keeping regardless. Read Beckford and Danns as players not worth their wage
I know he's not a leftback but would anyone consider taking phil Neville at end of the season? already said hes prepared to drop a division and surely his experience would only help our fullbacks and central midfielders
I thought about this. I eventually thought no as i think we have technically better players in holding midifeld.
.. depends what you mean by 'technical' - none of the current crop can tackle half as well as Phil Neville ... and that is just what we need .. plus he is a very good passer of the ball, if not particularly ambitious with that passing ... a very good call from Everybody_Danns_Now IMHO ...
