Robert Huth returns from suspension giving us a fully fit squad to choose from. So here is what I would go with Schmeichel Simpson Morgan Huth Fuchs Drinkwater Mendy Amartey Mahrez Musa Vardy Subs- Zieler, Hernandez, King, Gray, Albrighton, Okazaki, Ulloa
Back to basics for me, maybe a little harsh on Musa but this side (Mendy aside) has done us well in the past, and Vardy will have a point to prove against these guys. Schmeichel Simpson Morgan Huth Fuchs Mahrez Drinkwater Mendy Albrighton Okazaki Vardy
Aaron Ramsey ruled out for Arsenal Alex Iwobi is a doubt and Wenger has said he wont rush Koscienly, Ozil or Giroud back
We are still hungover from last season and will be facing an Arsenal side that have forgotten how to defend - will probably be another 4-3.
I'd have Simpson instead of Hernandez at RB - he hasn't settled into life in the Premier League yet. Hernandez has great long throws - would love to see him target Ulloa or one of the CBs with it though.
Kasper Simpson Huth Morgan Fuchs Mahrez Drinkwater Amartey Albrighton Okazaki Vardy Could not decide between Vardy and Musa but I think Musa makes the better impact sub and Vardy is bound to score. Also tempted to give Mahrez complete freedom a bit like this. Kasper Simpson Huth Morgan Fuchs Mendy Drinkwater Amartey Okazaki Vardy Mahrez to play wherever he likes within that formation above. Okazaki and Vardy runs to give him room.
... mentioned a few times on different threads that I feel we should give Mahrez a "Number 10" role ... other teams are doubling up on him when he's wide ...
So has Fuchs Reminds of Jock Wallace quote on Everton Carr when questioned about his lack of ability was "he's got a bloody good throw on him"
Am just watching motd2 and never realised how awful Arsenal were - think we could deal the final blow for Wenger like we did for Mourinho last season?
Be nice. I used to like Arsenal but after their antics at their place getting Simpson sent off last season and Wenger coveting virtually all our players, I've really got no time for them now.
Yes we've had some cracking full backs over the years: Geoff Scott, Norman Leet, Derek Dawkins, Billy(?) Gibson, Paul Friar
... you leave Des alone ... used to play against him at school - he played for Linwood on the Eyeres Monsell ... poor bugger used to suffer from asthma and I was a winger ... so always hoped it was a boiling hot day when we had to play them
Disagree that we are hung over from last season ! More a toxic mix of the Euros and the ridiculous amount of travel over three continents, IMHO.
Great performance, back to our near-best, and shows last week was just a one-off... Coquelin should have been sent off, quite early too, would have massively changed the game. What stings more is that Simpson was sent off for far less at the Emirates... Was a clear pen on Musa too! Ah well, good point and hopefully that kickstarts our season!
