Cool, thank **** for 4231 After the diamond debacle this is a welcome relief. I like the look of this team and hopefully Carson will put a good shift in. What with Lee Martin injured he needs to! I'm also happy to announce that Monkey Jr No 3 arrived on Sunday and as a reward the missus is getting me and Monkey Jr No 1 tickets to Brizzle & Bardiff away!!!!
Interesting both Luongo and Hyam are in the same team! That appears to be our strongest 11! Just checked, and we're 2-0 down Kane Ferdinand who we were linked with last season with both goals. Look forwards to hearing comments from anyone at the game! Usually I'm not overly worried by preseason friendlies, however another 2-0 loss tonight doesn't bode well for the season coming up! Oddly Norwich host Ajax tonight, that's slightly more prestigious! They're playing with their away kit at home......... why I don't know, as yellow certainly does not clash with red!
congratulations on the new born ! John Wark, you didn't ' give a **** ' about the lineup, so I'd imagine you wouldn't 'give a ****' about the result haha !
I see jewell is still moaning about the same old same old problems.........DO SOMETHING ANOUT IT OTHER THAN MOANING ABOUT IT THEN....! FFS
Thanks for the kind comments chaps. I think Jewell's in the last chance saloon. ME knew this after our end of season form hence the lack of cash to spend... Our situation is pretty precarious, I don't think any of us know what's going to happen this season!
It's all well and good saying that Jewell is in last chance saloon, if he doesn't get backed by Evans then it's difficult for him to do well! As Spanish said in another post, back him or sack him. If as club backer, your unsure about Jewell then don't wait until 12 games gone, the transfer window closed to make a new appointment, do so now. If that happened, the season would be an absolute write off. I will still reserve judgement on how we'll do at the end of the transfer window. It's patently obvious we're a bit short at the minute however! It appears Jewell sent out his 11 for this game, or very much close to it. Also appears ( only 2 subs made ) he treated this as a game where he really wanted to see where we're at. I'm slightly annoyed only 2 subs were made! - Kourouma an unused sub, yet we're doing everything to sign him. Doesn't seem right to me! - Whight could have done with a half, if Cresswell is to go. Lets see how good he is. - Scotland unused!? Surely he could have done with 20 or so! - Murray- I'd like to see him given a chance! Only game I've seen him play was Exeter away in the cup, he scored a cracking goal and changed the game! Try him Jewell!
Not so! Here's part of his post match interview... He says thereâs still much to do between now and the start of the season: âWeâve played Luton, who are a Conference team and Southend, not easy games, but weâve conceded goals from three set plays and a cross, so that tells where we need to improve, certainly one area and other areas of the pitch as well. âbut weâve conceded goals from three set plays and a cross, so that tells where we need to improve, certainly one area and other areas of the pitch as well. That means to say we need to work harder to stop crosses, we need to work harder not to give silly freekicks away, we need to be more professional in the right areas and stronger, mentally and physically in one-to-one challenges." Talk about stating the ****ing obvious, how many times did we see this, or a re-hashed version of this as a Jewell post match interview last season?
welly I would say he says the same thing after nearly every defeat or draw, making himself look stupid as after nearly 2 years you would think he would have solved the problem, seeing as its soooo blatantly obvious!! I can't take another season of the same old problems, its you guys i feel sorry for as i only have to listen to it, you lot pay good money to watch it!!
Have just read some of Jewells post match comments about us being nowhere near good enough:- Jewell says he’s a long way from knowing the team which will face Blackburn Rovers on August 18th in the Blues' opening Championship match: “It won’t be what it was today, let’s be brutally honest,” he said after last night’s 2-1 loss at Roots Hall. “It’s nowhere near good enough at the moment, let’s be honest about it. I think everybody knows that. “Everyone knows that we need two or three players in. We’ve got to make sure we get the right type of players in.” So far this summer Jewell has signed right-back Elliott Hewitt, who is out for another few weeks having undergone hip surgery while with Macclesfield, central defender Luke Chambers, keeper Scott Loach and loanee midfielder Massimo Luongo. In addition to those players, Jewell is after a big striker and, judging by last week’s bid for Doncaster’s George Friend, who subsequently decided to join Middlesbrough, and the Blues’ continuing defensive woes, another centre-half, amongst others. The Liverpudlian says he’s constantly working to add to the squad: “I wish sometimes people would come and sit in my office. I’m never off the phone trying to get players in. “I spoke to three Premier League managers today about players but they all said the same old thing – we’ll see what we’ve got left come August 31st.” He admits he’s frustrated, adding: “I must have tried for 20 players but for different reasons it hasn’t happened and I’ll continue to try and improve the squad. “I know that the team we’ve got now isn’t good enough to get us to where we want to get to.” But the Town boss is confident he’ll get at least some of the players he’s after before the campaign begins: “We will bring someone in before the start of the season, at least one, if not two, if not three.” Meanwhile, Jewell played down the chances of former striker Connor Wickham rejoining on loan if he were to be made available by Sunderland, as was reported over the weekend: “I think we’ve got first call on Connor if he becomes a loan, but I also think we’ve got to pay three-quarters of his wages, and we haven’t got that type of money.” Dear oh dear Jewell, you still havent learnt, looking at the Premiership for loanees or old crocks who want a final pay cheque instead of looking at the lower leagues or abroad. I have a bad feeling about this, panic buys and loans are on the horizon!!
Firstly and more importantly that football - congratulations Monkey. secondly and more concerning that looks like our strongest available team at present. You cant blame that on tinkering and experimentation so not a real worry yet (pre season can often cause strange results) but definately a case of concern. On the Jewell press conference argument I see 1 of 2 possibilities. Either he can see the problems but cant do anything to change it, which would suggest either his own failings or possibly the need for a defensive coach or the other option is he knows what to do but hasnt been given the cash to bring in the new faces he wants. If this second part is the cash its rather harsh to criticise Jewell for bringing in unheard offs, gambles, loans and has beens.
It defies belief that our defence is as weak as it is, we could and should have been 4-0 down at half time. After just 1 minute a Southend player had a free header from 5 yards at the far post fortunately it went over the bar, then two quick goals and just before half time Cresswell cleared off the line. The common denominator? they all came from crosses and corners from our left hand side that our defenders couldnt get a head to, and this was not a team of giants we were up against. If this is the standard we are at we will be in desperate trouble against any team in the division, not just the good ones. PJ said he will not pay £1M for Davies, youre looking at the wrong end dummy its the defence that needs strengthening, the same as it did last season just take a look at the goals against column for a reminder! So far Chambers looks ordinary as does Loach, pre season I know but we are bloody awful with less than 3 weeks before the big kick off. For christs sake PJ stop saying the same things and do something to remedy the problems, and if you cant then clear out and let our club try to find someone who can. This may be sleepy Suffolk but we know our football and we know our great club, its true there is a huge weight of history attatched to the job but there cannot be any free rides for non performers and after what I saw last night its frightening.
Jewell or Evans out, or both? In fairness to that team, Martin will come in for Carson and maybe Smith for Delaney. Did anyone go? Rumour has it that we didn't play 4231..! I'd be gutted if Loach didn't find his form and I still hope Chambers proves me wrong. However, I think we've gone from 2 to 3 rubbish centre backs
Spot on Fieldmarshall I agree with every word I have had the misfortune to be at the Cambridge, Luton and Southend games, I even begged my kids to come along with me! After the Cambridge game we thought yeah great we seemed to have improved only to be completely embarassed in the last two! We have another season of struggle ahead of us with little apparent activity from Clegg the Olympics Queen and not a peep out of Evans. What a total ****ing shambles this once great club has become! We all know the answer to our problems FFS!
