SWP reckons McLaren has the team bonding, big time! Good to hear some positive stuff.

Shaun Wright-Phillips says Steve McClaren is having a major impact at QPR – and is helping to create a team spirit that was lacking last season.

Relegated after a series of dismal performances and dressing-room divisions, Rangers begin life in the Championship against Sheffield Wednesday this weekend.

Pre-season has been overseen largely by former England boss McClaren, who recently joined the club’s coaching staff on a short-term basis while he awaits a return to management.

And Rangers wide-man Wright-Phillips, who played under McClaren for the national team, insists the squad are in good shape.

He said: “The spirit has been good. There’s more a sense of togetherness than there was last season.

“We’re all working for each other. That togetherness is the most important thing. You have to have that really.

“When things go wrong it’s important to encourage each other rather than get on peoples’ backs and I think that’s what the spirit is like now.

“The spirit is better and Steve McClaren coming in has helped with that.”

Wright-Phillips also believes Rangers’ players have benefited from the experience McClaren picked up during his spells at FC Twente and Wolfsburg.

The former Chelsea man said: “It’s been really good having him here.

“Obviously he’s managed England and since then has had even more experience having worked in Holland and Germany.

“He’s worked in countries where they play with different styles and I think that’s added to his knowledge and experience.

“The lads have found it good working with him and I think he’ll have a massive impact.”

    Welcome news indeed.

If they get some semblance of team and playing for the badge / fans, most of us will be happy enough unless we are hovering near the drop zone.

Sounds positive. McLaren was a very good appointment. Let's hope he will stay on.

I made mention of it when he first arrived and if I was a betting man, I'd put my money on him replacing Harry, whether that be sooner or later ............... I think it will happen.

Happy story, keep 'em coming. Sounds good. The appointment of McLaren seem to be a very clever move.

Could be PR bollocks but could be real good news. In my opinion, team spirit and drive is the number one most important thing in a team. It's the foundation for anything.

I wonder how Harry and McClaren get on.

Right, now Im not going to be the 1st negative nancy to comment.

doesnt this seem to indicate things werent all good between Redknapp and the players now they are saying how much better it is under McLaren.

I think he will be our manager in 3 months. This is PR aimed at getting us onside.

I for one would be happy for McLaren to take over from Redknapp, the problem is when?

He just did, this is nothing but PR fluff, exactly like the club did last season when they wheeled out a player for a positive article every Weds before a game.

It doesnt matter if McLaren is going to be the manager, its still obvious PR as there is no substance to it apart from them telling us how great it is.

No he didn't. He published an interview with SWP. He never wag his tail for the club, quite the opposite as he has a critical look at everything the club does.

He has done but this article in isolation is pure PR.

I'm not saying the Mac is doing PR bollocks. I'm saying SWP's comments are probably a load of PR bollocks. But maybe not. Maybe things are going nicely at QPR and I very much hope they are!

:) It is mainly about McLarens impact like the headline reads, "Wright-Phillips hails McClaren’s impact". It is positive alright, doesn't necessarily have to be PR though.

Think we have to agree to disagree on this one mate ;)

How is your shortlist coming along? One done which was great news. To be honest, I would like Redknapp, Zamora, Henry and Johnson to stay out of those seven with the jury still out on SWP.
