I wouldn't go for Halls, he's truly shocking and ainsworth is a shade of his former self. We hear week in week out how good our youth team is, its time to bring a few players up and replace the dead wood in the team like ainsworth, halls, harding, strevens and foster. Also, does anyone know when Dave is back as we need him? For next match, this would be my team:

    Bull
    Mccoy, Winfield, Johnson, Sandell
    Grant, Bloomfield, Lewis, Donnelly, Harris
    Beavon

Subs: Foster, Betsy, Scowen, Benyon, Rendell

Rendell needs to be in the first XI in my opinion, he was our top scorer last season and hasn't been given a chance - i.e. three or four starts in a row - to do anything yet. He can't do any worse than our current strike force. Beever and Rendell up front with Benyon as a sub?

People say Rendell's lazy, I don't care how lazy he is if he chips in 20 goals a season. He can stand in the D for the whole game for all I care.

Also just cos Ibe's been looked at by Man Utd and is doing really well in training, it's NOT the answer to our strike force problems right now. Imagine him playing yesterday - he would have got no service and his morale would have been shot to pieces after a game like that. It's a tried and tested method to bleed the youngsters in by playing them in no-pressure situations, for example if we are winning by a couple of clear goals. That's what all managers do and they must be right. THrowing him in ahead of Rendell, Strevens, Beever and Benyon will annoy all parties and isn't the key to success. Maybe next season or the one after.

i think ibs should be tried, he surely cant do any worse than strevens has so far. as for benyon, the durys out as to how good he is. i do think, with a run in the team, rendell will start to score again and should possibly play against sheffield united as he is better defensively than our other strikers if he needs to track back. you say Ibe is not the answer, but i think he should at least be given a go off the bench, as the only way to find out is to try them. after all, who thought matty phillips would be any good when lambert gave him his first start?

i agree with jock, rendell will score goals but we need wingers to attack the full backs and get the ball in the middle and rendell has to start goal hanging more we dont want rendell on the half way line we need him in the box.i disagree about ibe he has pace and raw talent and the couple of times he has come on this season he has gone past defenders like they werent even there he deserves a chance from the bench,as i said before benyon and strevs are just not good enough.shame mcclure got injured because he is another promising youngster coming through the ranks.

Point taken Rocky - I've not had the pleasure of seeing Ibe so am making statements (As always) based on other people's views and not what I've seen. I think you're right in that he should be getting on the bench and brought on when possible - but I wouldn't be so sure about him being in the first XI as our goal solution - would rather we dipped into the loan market before that. More than anything else regular hard games for a youngster like that can increase the risk of injury (Well it does on Champ Manager any way:grin:). But in an ideal situation we'd have our first XI playing well and then we can afford the luxury of Ibe/Harris on the bench coming on with 20 mins to go when we're 2-0 up. If only!

Just from listening to a few matches, whenever Ibi and Harris have come on it seems that when they get the ball they go past one player, maybe another, and cross the ball and I find myself muttering "give it Ibi/Harris".

Not having seen them live I can't really comment but it certainly sounds as though they have the pace and skill to trouble defenders. Don't know how accurate their crosses are, which is pretty key.

I would definitely bring them on and give them 30mins, particularly if we are losing and not looking like scoring. What is there to lose?
