so, squads looking a bit thin, anyone wonder who were going to sign? Ipswich seem to think that Chopra has signed for them, but I think i heard Forest have Signed him, Whittingham and Pratley! so what do you want the team to look like next season? I think we need 2 CB's, 1LB, 2 Wingers, 2 Centre Mids, and 3 Strikers! so yeah a whole new team, lets hope the manager we get in is up to the job! Who would you like to see?
What do we need? Forward x2 LB Right Winger Centre midfield x2 As to whom comes in? depends on what manager we have and how deep VT and TG put their hands in their pockets. ;-)
I think we need a whole new defence with the exception of Mcnaughts, 2 midfielders, 2 strikers and a wide man. Will we get that probably not, but in my humble opinion that is whats needed, lets face it our defence was dire last year and cost us dearly.
I would take issue on needing a whole new defence. McNuggs remains good and Hudson played well for most of the time until injured. Gerrard is coming back and Keinan was good until last 3 or 4 games - everyone has a dip in form from time to time. Quiiny did well on his return and we missed him at the death and Darcy is a good cover player across the back. However, a left back for definite is a must. I thought Naylor only had a 1 year contract but Haven't seen anything about him leaving. If not, why not? For mid field, we need different types of players especially only having Whitts, McPhail and Wildig left. I would love a good, old fashioned ball winner and a box to box type who can tackle and score a few. Not asking much really?
--------------Marshell------------- Mcnaughton--Gerrard--Hudson--New New-- Mcphail ---New-- Whittingham -------Chpora------ New---------- Heaton Blake Quinn Naylor New Wideman Kienan Wildig Parkin New Midfielder New Striker At the very least not sure if I have missed anyone out except for promoted youth. As for Naylor I believe he was on a one year but got offered a new contract at some stage this season by DJ for a further year!!!
I think the defense is not the worry, we have 3 decent center backs, two good right backs but perhaps a new left back! As Naylor isn't up to the cut Since i hear that Whitts (rumor) is off, we only have one midfielder. In fact i agree completely with ccfcrtop, two posts above me
Thing is that if the likes off Whitts and Chop's leave that would help generate a bit of cash for the new manager to rebuild so it would not be a bad thing. Lets face it clubs have had smaller named players who have taken us apart at times when our so called big names went missing.
I would sell Chopra for a decent price but i would try to keep hold of Whitts, no matter what money they offered. Let Ipswitch have Chops
Troy Archiebalb-Henvile. Exeter Adam Le Fondre. Rotherham Graig Conway. Dundee Utd Robert Earnshaw.Nottingham Forest Zurab Khizanishvil. Reading Jason Shackell. Barnsley Craig Bellemy . Manchester City Steven Gerrad.(returned) Cardiff
central defence and goal keeper should be ok, in midfield we still have mcphail and whittingham, as well as wildig. up front we obviously need 3 new strikers, as well as another 3 wide players, left back of course as has been mentioned before, and the fact that we have someone like blake who can fill in throughout the back 4 helps. of course which sort of players we manage to attract will depend entirely on who the board go for in terms of the new manager.
Well its going to be up to the new manager. Whoever that may be ? I now think the club are taking an inordinate amount of time in selecting the new man, as i suspect Hughton may now join Jol at Fulham, I really do not know who i would like there but i have a sneaky suspicion that Robins may be the front runner. Whoever takes over will not have a great deal to work with and we need someone in soon so that they can bid for the rejects in about 3 weeks time. Sorry to be a bit negative but its really doing my Cracker in now.
I'm with you Ronnie. I'd like to think that 'no news is good news' and the board are making a thorough job of deciding rather than not being able to make a decision. I'm personally not sold on Robins but if its him he'll get my backing. The South Wales Copy/Paste (eggo) seem to be all over him at the moment though (yes, I'm that bored I've started reading that ****e). I also think Hughton may feel he has a point to prove a No1 rather than go back to being No2, albeit in the Prem. He's certainly gained respect and a good reputation despite his short managerial career. Either way, whoever it is...please board, tell us now ....the clock is ticking and players are on the move
im not to sold on robbins, but he did pretty well with barnsley considering the state they were left in after Simon davey left them, No matter who the manager is i'll get behind them! John Toshack anyone?!?
Thought the thread was supposed to be regarding the team for next season not the manager as it l;ooks like the latter has been done to death on the Cardiff boards ??
Therein lies the problem TGI. We have nothing certain to focus on so virtually anything will do. Been talking about Jedward (and that they should have not have been allowed past birth) on another thread ffs.
Lots of new players likely with new manager, methinks. However, given the squad left: Marshall McNaughton - Blake - Gerrard - new (weren't they the central pair that gave us all the clean sheets leading up to last year's playoffs before HUdson was unfortunately returned - despite how well he played as an individual) Whitts - Wildig(lets see what he can do with a spell in the team) - new - Bellamy (hopefully) new - new Cash in on Chops, McPhail, new youngsters, rest of defence on bench, Parkin on loan
