If you could pick a team for next year including any potential / realistic signings what would it be any why ?

    Mine would be :

    1) De Gea
    2) RB - Rafael
    3) LB - Evra *
    4) CB - Jones
    5) CB - Hummel **
    6) CM - Cesc
    7) RW - Januazi
    8) CM - Strootman / Pogba / Kroos ***
    9) CF - RVP
    10) CF - Rooney
    11) LW - Anyone but Young /Nani / Valencia

    * I'd put Shaw in at left back but I wouldn't make him a priority signing at the expense of the midfielders that we obviously need.

** I'd love us to sign a WC centre half like Hummels

*** I think we need to sign two ready made, slot straight in, Centre Mids - I'd like a creative one (Cesc) and a ball winner like Strootman.

Our wingers are currently not very good but I'm not sure who would be available. as long as Young doesn't play then I'm not bothered.

I've also got a funny feeling that Mata may be sold as he's not much of a luxary player in my opinion.

I can see you possibly getting Cesc, and probably Shaw, unless we try to hijack the deal.

Dont think Hummels or Pogba/Kroos will happen to be honest. Pogba hasnt had nice things to say about United and I think Kroos has already shot you down.
Hummels I also think will go elsewhere if he moves, there will be some big clubs in for him will be surprised if he comes to England.
Strootman I can see signing for you, (with the LVG connection too) but not sure if United have declared an interest, your club have always been cagey when it comes to players you want to sign.

I think some players will be leaving BM this summer though. In CM they have Thiago, Sweinstiger, Martinez, Kroos, Grotze, Muller.

That's the reason why I think there may be a possibility of Kroos or Sweinstiger. In regards to Hummels, I think we've got as good a chance as anyone as we're still one of those big names you make reference to.

****s knows who we could bring in on the wings though <laugh> I'd have loved Robben but he's already ruled himself out.

Say we limit this to only four signings, which is realistic in one hit.

    My team would be;

    De Gea
    Rafael (reluctantly)
    Jones
    Hummels
    Shaw
    Schweinsteiger
    Kroos (or Fabregas)
    Januzaj
    Mata
    Rooney
    van Persie

    Playing 4 2 3 1

How on earth are we supposed to compete with all these big players out there? Like Chelsea.

That looks pretty good to me although the lack of width would slightly concern me unless the full backs we're allowed forward more.

I'm also currently reluctant about Jones. Next eason is going to be massive for him as I think he was a ball watching liability last year who actually seemed to go backwards in his development.

Sorry, I wasnt implying that you weren't, I just meant that there will be lots of competition for him, and he may pick a club in the Champions League.

He wasnt the only player who went backwards under Moyes, but now you have a better manager, I imagine he (and others) will put in better performances next season.

I think other seems to go backwards due to lack of effort whereas it seemed Jones was really trying but was still gash.

I had high hopes for him and still do but I think this season could show whether he's going to become a first teamer of a squad player like O'Shea.

He needs to be given his slot and stick to it. There's been too much pissing about and I'd like for van Gaal to come in and tell him he's first choice centre half, with an experienced new buy alongside him.

Evans is cover, as is Smalling, who can also cover right back when we're desperate.

I think most players will realise we will be back in thr champions league in a year so it wont be an issue. Not just back in it but as a top seed as well probably.

Jose did a similar thing with John Terry, he had always been a semi fringe player behind Gallas and Desailly.
Desailly retired and Jose put his faith in JT and it paid off, maybe a similar thing will happen to Jones now Rio is gone.

hehe you all seem so sure of this.
I personally think you will be back in the top 4 next season, but at whose expense?
Which of this years top 4 do you think will be ousted for United next year?

And dont say Chelsea, Chief! Before you do ! :p

Liverpool. We know it, they know it. The whole world knows it.

Liverpool are like spurs and evertom. Occasionally they will make the top 4.

Valencia wont get a gamr under van gaal. Hes the type of player he hates. Zero technical ability, afraid to beat his man and isnt versatile. Reckon he will be sold tbh.

Thats a very underwhelming side as well matt. If clasie is the only midfielder we sign then we will have ****ed up.

Dont rate that kono either. Hes used to having a 3 month break over the winter and will struggle to adapt.

Di maria, reus, sanchez are all better options.

A few liverpool tears will be shed over it but does anyone really doubt it will happen? Liverpool had a great season last year for a lesser side (big clubs would call it a failure) but they have serious problems at the back and cant expect their strikers to bail them out all the time.

I know this because thats what we did. It went badly wrong :(
