Miff's best XI (and what I'd like to see on saturday!) Lips Tits Boobs Breasts Nipples minge clunge fadge fanny legs thighs
I'm surprised Simpson hasn't had a look in, you'd expect him to at least make the bench. We should also avoid having anyone fanny around in the area.
Go without a GK sub - it didn't do Wet Spam any harm against Blackpool - frees up a place for Simpson on the bench. Have we contractually got to have Josh King on the bench if not starting? Barmby shown on Sky at the Derby Leicester game - that Theo Robinson would give us a different option - not that theywould let him go.
Call me a **** who doesn't have a clue (go on, call me it), but I think a bit of 4-4-2 action might just be what the doctored ordered. Be nice to mix it up a bit, have another plan. Don't quiz me on the team just yet, I said it in a flurry of inspiration. To hell with the consequences. No really though - 2 strikers. Helps Fryatt out a bit.
Quite like our 4231 formation at the moment. The only thing we need to change is to allow Evans to become more box to box rather than defensive mid.
I want us to carry on playing just the way we are. We look a proper total football team. I know were not scoring, but we will. I don't think iv'ever seen us pass the ball the way we are at the moment. If we want to be a premier league side,we want to do it in the right way.
Everyone has their opinions but I think it's clear for all to see what the problem is, ive said it over and over again, and that's Fryatt, and not because he's **** but because the system doesn't suit him at all. All they have to do is block the goal and defend deep and we can't get through and have to resort on shots outside the box. For one striker to work you need aerial presence to stop teams from defending so deep and parking an ocean liner in their box, as we could easily just cross-head-goal. For me it's a change of formation, which wouldn't come easy as it means moving our best player out of his best position to a mere central midfielder, but as long as Fryattsvup top on his own and specially when McLean isn't on the pitch, I think this problem will continue. To back this up, did anyone notice how high Bristol had their defensive line set? That suited is to the ground and we scored 3 goals. But practically every team defends a bit deep as it stifles our threat running behind the defence which is basically our only threat, when we come up against a good defence it's just too easy for them, and extremely difficult for us to break through with enough time to take a proper composed shot, hence why most of our shots are quick panicky stabs that usually tend to go wide, straight at the keeper or lack so much power even a tortoise would beat the ball over the line. In my opinion anyway, but it makes so much sense to me.
I don't think there's any doubt that Fryatt is better suited to playing in a 4-4-2, equally Koren is better off playing behind a striker and that's what is determining our current formation. Maybe be should compromise with two strikers playing ahead of the midfield, something like... Evans McKenna Stewart --------Koren -----Fryatt Mclean Worked against Arsenal...
Been pondering the idea and I'm a massive fan but I feel we'd lose too much wide for this team which uses the wide positions a lot. Also Stewart wouldn't fit into that midfield whatsoever as es far too lightweight, I think it would have to be Brady who has a bit more steel about him an can actually tackle. Stewart would have to make do as a sub when we change shape or coming on for one of the strikers. Think it could work pretty well though in certain games, but I'd definitely think about bringing dudgeon in at left back if we were to try it, bit of pace to give us at least some width in the left.
With a bit of imagination I dont think this is impossible -------------------------------------Mannone----------------------- -----------------------Chester---------Hobbs---------Turner--------- ------------Rosenior-----------------------------------------Dudgeon -------------------------------Oli-----------Mckenna-------------- --------------------------------------Koren-------------------------- ----------------------------Stewart------------Fryatt---------------- Subs: Basso, Cooper, Cairney, Evans, Simpson/Mclean I am basing this on Man Utd keeping Brady and us only making one fantasy signing Better than below? -----------------------------Myhill------------------------------- ---------------Mcshane-----Turner-------Zayette---------------- Mendy---------------------------------------------------Dawson -----------------------Oli----------Ashbee----------------------- ----------------------------Geo---------------------------------- -------------------Altidore-------King----------------------------- Subs: Duke, France, Cooper, Marney, Cairney, Barmby, Cousin
I'd agree with this. The current system maximises Koren's goal threat, which considering he is our only goal threat, makes pretty good sense. As for Fryatt, IMO his strength is playing with this back to goal and worming in and out of those tight spaces I'm not sure another striker would help a great deal. The team Miff has suggested is basically the current team but with Simpson on the wing instead of Brady and Evans playing further forward. I think that last part is important, Evans needs to start getting in the area more.
How Lesta only managed one goal last night was beyond me. 2 very poor sides overall. Dyer hit the post and then the rebound onto the bar within 5 secs. Nugent missed from less than 6 yards out. Others equally as guilty. Dont see much to worry us for the 24th march game @ the King Prawn. All things considered IF Millwalls Henderson stays out of Jail after his trial then he is the only one i can see worth going after. Unless of course we can loosen Udders grip on Rhodes which i very much doubt.
