There was an interesting discussion on TalkSport yesterday over Britain's olympic football team.

Aparrently, the Jocks & the Sheepshaggers are none too keen on releasing their players to participate. Not such a great loss I think.

We can't play under England as we enter the olympics as Great Britain & NI.

Now Northern Ireland's FA have said they don't want their players in either but their manager, Nigel Worthington has come out & said all the Ulster boys have his blessing to go.

The ironic thing is, that Scotland & Wales still want to host the games at Hampden & Millenium thus bringing in all the revenue that that would earn.

Talk about double standards.

Personally, I would love to see all the home nations come together entering into the olympic spirit.

There are a number of double standards being applied here - not least the Jocks wanting to stage games without committing to a joint team, and the Welsh FA moaning that the FA doesn't have any authority to speak for them or proceed with a joint team. If they're that bothered about maintaining their indepedence get Cardiff and Swansea out of the English Leagues and into the Welsh one !

All this could of course be sorted out quickly if FIFA got off their arses and put it in writing that it wouldn't affect the status of the other Home associations.

Of course that's not going to happen since a) FIFA is incompetent and corrupt, and b) they hate the English (and by association the rest of the Brits) !.

It's a shame but frankly the BOC and FA should go ahead with just English players if necessary - and as far as the Jocks, Welsh and NI are concerned - well it's their loss !

Don't you believe it Chunky. It will happen if FIFA get their own way

Cricket, it cannot happen as we have four separate fa's in Britain & without the agreement of all four FIFA could not force us to amalgamate.

If this did, one day happen then surely all home nations clubs would have to play in a British league?

You lads that live in Holland, sometimes they play as Holland & others as the Netherlands, what's the difference there?

The Scottish and Welsh FA have said they want no part in the British Olympic team

In other news, bookies slash Britain's odds of winning a football medal from 50/1 to 3/1
