Decent first half tonight against UAE. No goals from any English players, need the Welsh (who don't sing the GB National Anthem) to get the goals. Edit: Have to say that as a professional footballer, Giggs is up there with the best of them. Edit: You can tell that it's a former player like Pearce managing the GB team, it's up and at em, get the ball to Giggs and he'll cross it in stuff...Zzzzzzz Edit: Everything GB do is about getting it to the wings and crossing it in, what on earth has gone wrong with football at international level in the UK? Does winning mean everything and quality mean nowt? Edit: Now UAE have equalised, no surprise, they pass the ball, they run on to it and they play a variety of different ways, not like the GB team who just keep the same old style every time. Zzzzzz Edit: 2-1 to Team GB, Sinclair scores. England finally have a scorer in the Olympics. Edit: Went for a pish and come back to find it was now 3-1, don't know who scored. Edit: I now know it was Sturridge.
Think you're very harsh on the quality of football team GB played. UAE were certainly quicker and more exciting going forward, but it was all passes along the ground into feet and trying to play people in behind. Great finish from Sturridge, no footballing brain but fantastic ability.
as if they'd sing the englsih national anthem, good on them, anyway we should be glad to have them they've pretty much carried the team so far........
I have a slight issue with the players not singing the national anthem. All of these players applied to play for the GB team at the Olympics, they knew it was Team GB and not England, Wales, Scotland and/or Northern Ireland. If they had an issue with the national anthem or playing for Team GB, then why on earth did they apply to play for them? It is the national anthem of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, not England, they use simply because they don't have anything of their own.
