I am surprised there hasnt been much said about the Team GB announcement later on. Could some NCFC players in there.

    Elliott Bennett?
    Ryan Bennett?
    Declan Rudd?
    Jed Steer?

    You never know.....

No Norwich players but I'm not surprised

Got the youth goalkeeper from middlesborough in but apparently rudd and steer that have played premier league football this year don't count.

    Yeah, hardly surprised.

The team isn't all that bad actually. Surprised Ryan Bennett isn't there though but Caulker, Tomkins and Dawson are not bad players.

No less than four players from last year's Swansea squad - Allen, Sinclair, Caulker and Taylor - but no room for any of our squad.
    What a surprise <doh>
Ah well, Stuart Pearce has always been a **** if you ask me <ok>

thank heavens is all I thought, dont want our squad playing in this pointless excercise much better they concentrate on NCFC will be bad enough having players taken for the pointless friendly internationals just before the season starts

was just about to make the exact same point! its a blessing though i do feel sorry for a few of our players who more than merit a place in that squad

With the benefit of hindsight I am so glad that England and Ireland managed to fail without tiring out or injuring any of our players. Equally whilst I am disappointed for players such as Howson/the Bennets and our keepers from a parochial point of view I am more than happy that our pre-season will not be disrupted by the Olympics which tbh football should not feature in (just my opinion)

tbh there's enough football played already it shouldn't be part of the Olympics it's only there to bring money in simple as that. They should have a rule that no premier league players can be in it thus giving some of the players playing out of the spotlight a chance if football HAS to be in there.

I would rather see football dropped for naked ladies mud wrestling <ok> Lets face it the athletes always used to be naked!!!

Fair point about Ruddy. He's also probably quite tired enough after being on honeymoon!

I don't want to see our players injured but at the same time think they deserve it. I would die to play in an England shirt, and would love to play in Olympics and it's probably safe to say most players feel like that. So you have to feel for them if they are unjustly overlooked as it is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Glad we have no players in the squad - not sure that football should be an Olympic sport - doesn't quite work for me.

    Whatever next .... Darts ? Snooker ?

Quite like the idea of naked ladies mud wrestling though - or how about synchronised pole dancing ?

ok, excuse my stupidity but who is eligible to play for team GB?

Beef suggested we had Steer and Rudd that were not eligible because they played in the PL this season but so did half the team that has been selected.

I think he's trying to say that Rudd and Steer have played prem football this year but J Steele hasn't and still has been selected. Anyone under 23 who's a gb citizen and 3 over 23.

I was indeed. I think they are amongst the best young goalies in the country

Pearce notoriously doesn't know what he's doing so I'm not surprised by any of this
