How come we crashed out on penalties when Hull city and Wolves both have 7 players who can score from the penlty spot?

Koren and Proschwitz were ineligible, Fryatt and McLean would have meant leaving out Bellamy, Giggs, or Richards, so that only leaves us with 3.

And the standard at the Olympics is also, in spite of the age-restrictions, considerably higher than that of the English Fourth Division.

I was just talking penalties, if it was the team as a whole the biggest difference would be McShane's ineligibility.

My point really was that so called Championship players seem to be able to take penalties, but the "GB" superstars don't. If GB had scored their given penalty we wouldn't have needed the "Shoot Out" at the end. Surely Ramsey and Sturidge should be ashamed.

i expect the pressure on players to convert penalties to get to an olympic semi might be different from the pressure to pop one in against rotherham utd or aldershot.

Bugger, I'd forgotten that 1970 game! Yep you are right. I withdraw my criticism of the penalty misses in the Olympics!!!

Now you mention costing us promotion it reminds me, we've been promoted within about 10 seconds of missing a penalty before.
