After our last two away defeats I have to own up to getting a bit concerned as to whether our 3-5-2 formation has been sussed by pinning our wingbacks in their own half, and when they are allowed to roam forward exploiting the space in behind them. Or is it simply that MaccaDonna has been missing? Anyway what's your thoughts, 3-5-2 or a more conventional 4-4-2 with Meyler and perhaps Fathi, surely we have to unleash him at some point, as midfield sitters?
I don't see Burnley having wingers that can punish us, we can out-play them though, so I'd stick to a 3-5-2 (3-5-1-1). -------------------Stockdale--------------- ----------Chester---Faye-----Hobbs------- --Elmo---Fathi-----Meyler---Quin---Brady-- --------------------Boyd------------------- --------------------Gedo------------------- However, I suspect we'll see Bruce not Faye.
id bring faye and mcshane in for bruce and hobbs...not saying there the ones at fault lately for all the goals, but something needs shaking up.. the amount of space phillips had for his 2nd and 3rd goals was scandalous..
Assuming Cairney and Evans are out my team would be: Stockdale Chester Faye Hobbs Elmo Meyler Fathi Quinn Brady Boyd Gedo Oxley McShane Rosie Olofinjana Koren Simpson Proschwitz
After shipping so many goals in our last two away games I really don't think we can play Koren, Meyler and Quinn in the middle - would be very worried if Bruce opts for that. I'd swap Koren for Fathi.
I think you could be right, I remember Bruce saying how we lost the midfield battle last time out when Burnley came to the KC which would suggest Brucey in midfield. To be fair, I wouldn't mind having him there as long as it meant Faye got back in the team. I'd be really worried with Bruce & Macca both playing.
Bruce will have been itching to get Fathi involved, lets Meyler move further up the pitch - Koren would be unlucky to be dropped but Quinn, Meyler and Fathi give us the hardworking midfield 3 that this formation needs.
Its got to be Macca. The way he has played this season I would have his name as the first one on the team sheet. Bring Fathi in to.
