Following the good Cup performance against Peterborough, I wonder if Steve McLaren will make any changes to the starting eleven? I would be tempted to start with this team: -------------------Ingram--------------------- Rangel---Leistner---Lynch (Hall) ---Bidwell ------------Luongo---Scowen---------------- --Wszołek-----Freeman----------Eze--- ----------------Washington---------------- I suspect that Hall will not be risked from the beginning, but he may make an appearance as sub. As we bought Rangel for a 5 month loan, I pressume that it is a "no-brainer" to play him and to rest Kakay. I would also be tempted to play Washington and Wszolek upfront to press the back four. For subs or a “plan B” , we could play one of the “Big Guys” upfront with some additional speed of Smyth or BOS. I will be interested to hear your thoughts, plus wait to see what McLaren decides to do.
My theory based on watching about an hour of West Brom looking awful at Forest is that they’re a team of decent players but also slow, old oafs apart from Barnes. Chances are we’ll get stuffed but I think the more mobile we are the more chance we have. Think Washington deserves a chance after Tuesday. If we sit back we’ll get murdered. If we have a go there’s nothing to fear. **** knows why I’m going. It’s ****.
It is called being a "QPR fan". It is an addiction and is probably classified as as a mild "illness"!
Almost forgot to post my team Lumley (please!) Kakay German Baptiste (anyone but Lynch) Bidwell Scowen Luongo Eze Freeman Smyth Smith (for confusion) I take it back about Wash. Think we need Smith for set pieces.
I reckon your lineup might be right Ski. SM seems to be searching for a striker on form with different one starting each game so far. Washington scored so it would make sense that he's the man chosen. Rangel edges it since experience will be needed against WBA. Pawel might get the nod (his work rate seems to win over new managers eventually) but it will be close between him and BOS. I would swap Eze and Freeman over in the predicted formation though (although I never guess these things right).
I believe that Eze and Freeman play quite fluidly and seem to switch positions quite regularly. I admit that I copied their positions as shown on my QPR app from the Sheffield match and on reflection, I would postion them as you mentioned. After all, we all know where the QPR no.10 should play!
From the mini highlights, Washington did look impressive in the 1st half and linked up excently with the forwards. It is just a pity he did not manage to get on the score sheet himself. Aginast WBA, I expect us to be on the back foot and absorbing pressure in the 1st half. My thoughts are that this may be a good set up for "high-energy pressing" and fast counter attacks. In the 2nd half, I would expect Washington to be subbed by Smith and we would then go for the longer balls and crosses.
I am sure he won't play Rangel this early...he is not fit enough...and what a kick in the teeth to Kakay who has been playing well. Wzolech will play I would think Can see Conor playing as he was instrumental in both goals on Tuesday..and works harder with his back to the goal than Smith. Ingram Kakay Leitner Lynch Bidwell Scowen Wszolek Freeman Luongo Eze Conor Sent from my STF-L09 using Tapatalk
Very interesting different perspective and view on Kakay. I believe that has been "targeted" by teams as the a potential "weak link" in our side. As a result, he has been very busy and has done very well. WBA away will be a tough grind of a match and I thought of resting him, rather than punishing him, plus to add experiecne". I have no idea on Rangel's fitness levels, but I believe he has already been training with us for the last week. It will be an interesting call for McLaren.
He’s good defensively. A bit clueless going forwards. Our defence would be painfully slow with Rangel in for Kakay.
---------------Ingram------------------- Kakay------Leistner------Lynch------Bidwell Wszolek ---Scowen--- Luongo---Freeman ----------- Eze------------------------------------- --------------Washington-------------------------
After our "brainstorming", I think this could be the probable starting eleven. I have no idea of the formation as it could be 4-1-4-1, 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3 or your 4-4-1-1. I think McLaren is quite flexible with this which is good - as long as it does not confuse the players.
Obviously great minds think alike...my earlier suggestion too. Guaranteed to be wrong then Sent from my STF-L09 using Tapatalk
Same personnel but different formation, Beth. I think 4-4-1-1 with Eze playing as a number ten would get the best out of him.
Scowen always plays in front of the back 4 Not sure why our formation every week doesn't starts 4-1-x-x Sent from my STF-L09 using Tapatalk
You could call it 4-1-3-1-1 if you like. Then last week would have been 4-1-1-3-1. Bielsa has 29 variations according to Stan.
I can’t name them though. Whatever the paper formation it’s how well the players understand it and how flexible it is in practice that counts. Think how flexible our great team’s 4-3-3 was. Of course, we had some decent players in there as well.
