I believe that as many players as possible are needed to be rested for Friday as they all look knackered compared to Plymouth and Barnsley. Diedhou, Reid, smith, Bryan, Paterson and probably Pisano/ brown hill all could do with a rest. Our loanee is cup-tied meaning that we'll have to play fairly defensive.

With this in mind I would start

    Fielding
    Vyner Flint. Moore. Magnusson
    Hegeler
    Pack. O'Neil
    Eliasson. O dowda
    Hinds

Not our strongest but hegeler could help stop long shots from out the box and the experience of pack o Neil and flint could be advantageous.

I wouldn't mind something like that. The word is Watford are planning on playing a fairly strong side (Troy Deeney now a fringe player!), so I'd much rather rotate to keep some players fresh and give others some game time. It's not throwing in the towel, but I see this as no lose - either we see some performances to make the manager think and an unexpected Cup run of sorts, or we have a bunch of players theoretically fresh for Friday. I think Moore won't start and Hegeler will play in centre defence though.

Shifting hegeler into defence would free up an attacking midfielder but I don't know who would be worth putting in unless there's no need to rest someone.

I reckon hegeler in that role might stop long shots that are being scored against us though
