im not sure what id like to see, as much as i know they arent the answer id still be tempted to start with Koren and Simpson until Gedo is match fit...
Prozzy never will be the answer for me, tho i know a lot of you still seem sure he will come good for reasons in am unsure of, i personally dont trust a player who runs on with his hands in his sleeves like an 8 year old been forced out onto the cold sunday league pitch by his dad <laugh>

maybe if he is fit enough id like to see a midfield of koren , meyler and quinn..with Gedo and Simpson up top. Ive said it before but Simpson has played his best football up front with Stewart for a period, then up front with Auko this season, seems to work well with a pacey forward, maybe he and Gedo could click.

All this of course is hopefuly subject to change if a forward arrives on loan tomorrow- fingers crossed!

Didn't anyone listen to Bruce post match interview? He didn't sound that confident that Gedo was match fit.

    -------------Stockdale
    ------Chester McShane Hobbs
    Elmo Koren Meyler Quinn Brady
    ----------Simpson Gedo

I'd start Gedo, just because I'm sick of seeing us play without an out and out striker.

he dont need to run or be that fit, just stand still on the 6 yard box and stick his foot out when a good cross comes in..
daft as it sounds that is all we are missing from being a top team!

We can always bring him off after an hour, we'll be 3-0 up by then anyway. <laugh>

    exactly who I'd pick too..

My bet would be that Gedo played 20 minutes anyway to get him up to match fitness ASAP. He may start on Tuesday with Simmo. He'll probably get subbed around 60 mins for Proschwitz/ Boyd?

Can't see Evans getting a nod, twice he gave away dangerous free-kicks, once in the first half on the edge of the box and more fatally for goal.

Against Derby, one defensive midfielder (Meyler) will be enough.

Not what I think it will be, but what i want to see

    Stockdale
    Chester Hobbs McShane
    Elmo Fathi Meyler Quinn Brady
    Gedo Simpson

Yes i think we should drop Koren, hasn't been doing it for me lately! Weather that will change if we drop him into midfield remains to be seen, but i'd like to see us utilise the Egyptians down the right while we have them!

Koren/Simpson hasn't worked and reminds me of how PB kept playing Garcia and ***an as strikers.Come on SB horses for courses get Koren back in the midfield and pick a couple up front who are likely to profit from good crosses and through balls even if not up to full match fitness.15 minutes off the bench will not bring them up to speed ,give them a start and sub them if they tire after 60 minutes.

    ----------Stockdale
    ---Chester, Hobbs, Mcshane
    --Elmo, Evans, Quinn, Brady
    ----------Meyler
    ----Gedo, Proschwitz/Simpson

Have Meyler going forward like Koren would. If he gets into the same goal scoring positions Koren does then i'd fancy Meyler to bury them every time, his finishing is quality. I'd rather not go with Simpson again but sometimes he can hold the ball up well. I like the way Proschwitz comes for the ball, maybe Gedo could play off that effectively.

Really losing faith in the strikers now so I'd just give these two a go, but I can't argue with what dj says that there is no real reason to expect him to come good any time soon. I'd maybe even give Stewart a start with Simpson, he is still here isn't he?

Great volley by meyler last night, even better pass when we broke 4 vs 3. I'd leave meyler to his defensive duties and let the more gifted players push forwards.

Koren is not a striker but he looks more like scoring than Simpson does. Which doesn't say much for Simpson !

I think it will be the same team (Evans in for Bruce)

Gedo looked nowhere near fit enough.

I'm just wondering were Fathi has actually been signed to play. Despite playing RWB for Egypt ahead of Elmo I can't see him playing there, which leaves either CB or CM. CM will probably be the more likely of the 2 as we already have 4 quality Cb's but with Quinn and Meyler seemingly nailed on that leaves him and Evans fighting it out for the final place, and yet you still feel that Koren (or Boyd if we sign him) would play there if we can actually get two strikers up and running.

Suppose it is useful to have a player of his versatility in the squad, but paying £500,000 or whatever was the reported loan fee seems a bit much to pay for someone who is going to sit on the bench. Unless of course the only way Gedo would come is if we signed both of them, Bruce did say "I'm looking at 1 Egyptian"

i can understand why most of you underrating Ahmed Fathi since moist of you barely watched the guy play before
but believe me after seeing the match against brighton i can say with all the confidence in the world Fathi can do way better than
Evans or Quinn as CMF or DMF
Elmo is doing great on the right but believe me Fathi is way better as a CMF or DMF than both Quinn and Evans from what i saw yesterday
I hope he get the chance soon to show you how good he is

Completely agree...and I definitely don't underrate him. I've watched Fathi's performances in the recent World Club Championship games and not only is he far better than Meyler/Evans but he is extremely fit. As for the Chile friendly he was more intent on avoiding injury so he could join us than playing at 100% of his capability. If he'd gone on when Alex Bruce was injured on Saturday instead of Evans we'd have won that game. Not sure why Bruce left him out but don't think it had anything to do with his lack of fitness. He could become the dominant player in CMF that we have been missing and he should be in for Evans on Tuesday and will be a great link up with Elmo.

I don't under estimate him, from the few matches I've seen he has been Egypt's and Al Ahly best player, but with players in his position playing well and Bruce's favourites (Quinn + Meyler) I can't seem him getting a chance apart from in the DM position which doesn't seem to utilise his attacking ability ive heard about and seen. I suppose the best scenario is that Meyler takes over in the DM position and Fathi plays down the right with Elmo!
