Two up front...with some attacking midfielders and Derry to stand guard...looks good to me, except Macheda on the bench messes up my prediction.

As predicted by many on here with his favoured 4-4-2, just hope the Buz / Derry axis isn't ripped apart too easily...

442, more attacking than I though and I really hope Mackie is on the left. Surprised Hogan made the bench.
Also hilarious to note various sites said Mackie, Barton, Buz and Bothroyd were being sold.

Agree about the middle, theres no pace at all there.

But who would NW have played tho......Smith instead of the underachieving Boothroyd, maybe....
So no real change in the team....a change in the mindset though...lets hope

Given availability of players, this is the most logical starting team line-up plus some options on the bench.

That's why I couldn't understand why no attacking CM on the original shopping list.

I feel our midfield has been a bit dodgy anyway recently without any pace and big gaps. I think we might get turned over in the middle.Having said that, not much more choices!. Lets see.

Think we may have a problem in midfield: Hope Buzsaky is firing!

swp mackie and jay will all need to do lot of midfield tracking today
and also get into wide positions to get crosses in
hope we do not concede early
if we can go in even at ht i fancy us to get something

Well... As you all say, best you can expect from available players. They will all know that they are expected to show their worth today. Let's hope hey do the shirt proud and put in 110%. Not expecting much in terms of points, but expecting a lot in terms of commitment.

Ferdinand is captain so it'll be interesting to see whether he keeps the armband...

WEve seen more attacking in the 1st 4 mins that we would have in a whole game under Warnock.

Promising start. Bit Worried about Hill at the back, his passing has been very poor. But otherwise lots of positives.

Yes, looking good so far - cracking shot by Buzsaky, winning most of the balls in the air!

Shaun a bit lucky, but Toon players are falling down when someone looks at them.
SWP on the right at last!
