Ive been an advocate of starting Downing since xmas as he has played well since then, thought he was below par v Villa so my 11 will be

    Reina
    Jonno Carra Agger Jose
    Stevie Lucas Hendo
    Suarez Studge Couts

Hopefully Stevies ok, had an injection pre Villa I believe,as did Johnson pre Montenegro England

Henderson has to start, he should play the last remaining games.

Johnson was average against Villa, made quote a few mistakes so would consider putting Wisdom in Johnsons place. Coutinho deserves his start, and lets hope that if Studge starts he can get back to scoring ways <ok>

I'll be at work for this game which I'm sure you'll all be glad to know <ok>

He wasn't shocking but I agree, I'd bring back Sturridge for Downing against West Ham (was Sturridge dropped or was he carrying a knock?)

Carroll due to the loan system can't play against us, does anyone know if C Cole is fit? If not, will certainly blunt their attack.

    Really?

Well this is Garth Cook <laugh>

Just thought he was very average against Villa and Wisdom deserves to get a few games.

Garth Crooks doesnt have a clue. I remember once he put Valencia at right back when he doesnt even play right back.

Rumour is Johnsons had a bit of a toe niggle the last month or so, he was exceptional 1st part of season, but he had a stinker at home to West Brom and since then hes been poor.Like I say though the injury may be something to do with it, as I say he had an injection pre Montenegro England.

Its hard to say whether he should come out of the side without knowing is the toe is ok or not

Confusing. So Johnson gets into a team with 3 at the back because he can play left or right fullback (not sure that's how a defensive 3 works...), but Coutinho doesn't get in (Carrick gets in despite not even being mentioned in the match report)?

He probably picks names out of a hat.

Why put those 4 midfield in a diamond?

well... we've 7 games left. johnson and gerrard can be nursed i suppose but i would think the way johnson played in the last 3 not to mind last weekend should indicate a couple weeks off IMO.

    anyway.

i think its predictable at this point but i cannot see downing getting dropped so OP team - sturridge.

after all... with no allen the manager is forced to pick the right team ;) if only someone would break downings shoulder now we'd have his three fav's out with the same injury ;)

Do you think Downing is being played to support an injured Johnson? The theory being he doesn't stay advanced like Sturridge would etc.

But I agree with 6D's team.

    This:

    Suarez Sturridge Coutinho

has to be tried, West Ham at Anfield on the back of a win is the perfect time to do it - hopefully BR goes for it.

good question but i don't think so. you could easily stick suarez wide right and have a world class player there with sturridge up top.

in the end i just think it'll take a broken shoulder to now get downing out of rodgers side despite him being average. its not like he's done badly or anything wrong but sturridge did play poor on his last outing so he's got to force his way in i guess.

for me the very very worst thing to go do is to drop henderson AGAIN and go 4-4-2 to ccomodate sturridge and downing. this is the type of thing rodgers might try at home. don't be shocked!
