It is hard to believe that the new season kicks off on Saturday. On a positive, for once we do not have a an issue of “gelling” a new team as we have not made too many new acquisitions. Unfortunately, we already have some injuries. I admit that I really have no idea what team we will field and I am sure that Ian will be surprised. As result, I will stick with the 3-5-2 wing-back formation and the starting eleven of our last friendly which I drawn as a 3-2-3-2 in the schematic below just to confuse you! --------------------Smithies------------------- ---------Perch----Onuoha-----Lynch-------- Wszolek------------------------------Robinson ------Freeman--Scowen --Luongo------- -------------Smith ------Washington-------- I admit that I don’t feel comfortable that playing Paweł in the right back position or in dropping Manning. I look forward to seeing your alternative proposals. COYR’s!!!
Going on what he looked like on Saturday, I can't put Smith in the team. Swap him for Sylla and you're not that far off. Of course, if Hall was fit, he'd replace Perch...
--------------------Smithies------------------- ---------Onuoha----Caulker -Lynch-------- 2 tacklers with Caulker covering Furlong------------------------------Robinson - youth on the wings ------Freeman--Manning --Luongo------- - 3 tidy players with one holding -------------Smith ------Washington-------- Washington (this season yes!!!) plus anyone --------- it doesn't really matter - none of them are any good
Is Caulker fit? I thought I read last week that he is two weeks form match fitness? If he is, then I would play him and possibly in place of Lynch.
Smithies Ned, Caulker, Bidwell Furlong Pawel, Scowen, Freeman, Manning Washington, Sylla Probably totally unbalanced, lacking creativity, goals, and anything else required to win but best I can come up with.....
I think it work and be more balenced in a 4-4-2 formation Smithies Furlong, Ned, Caulker, Bidwell Pawel, Scowen, Freeman, Manning Washington, Sylla
Any combination of eleven QPR players terrifies me right now quite frankly Smithies Furlong (anyone but Perch) Onuoha Lynch Robinson Freeman Scowen Manning Wzolek Sylla Washington I'll probably get about 7 of the 11 correct, all in the wrong position.
Apparently Caulker is playing tonight at Billericay. Expect to see him looking the business until August 31st where he fails to get a move and goes back to the pub.
I think you may be quite close and I admit that I quite like this 4-3-3 formation as we seem to use our best players in their natural position. For example, in the 3-5-3 formation Paweł is used as a wing-back, which he definitely is not. That said, Washington is not a winger! However, if we do play such a 4-3-3 formation, I expect to see Smith start as center forward.
The 3-5-3 would still see us outnumbered all over the pitch! There are other options for that left wing role and all much of a muchness. Freeman might be wasted there. Yeni is totally unpredictable and defensively awful. Washington, for his faults, gives us the nearest thing to a bit of everything unless super Mack is fit.
Going to the match on Saturday, and of course, I hope we win well - but I'm not expecting it, and if we do get routed, it might shake our management from its current mindset that the transfer window doesn't apply to us and our current squad can compete with the best in this division. I see Wolves have paid £15.8m for Neves (from Porto), to add to Costa at £12.75m from Benfica last Jan. No FFP problems for them then.
Yes, Col. I like the people around me and the banter, which is darkly uplifting when stuff on the pitch isn't going to plan! I used to be in S Africa road, which was good for a strategic view but you don't tap into the atmosphere on the pitch like the lower tiers. Are you moving about the stadium match by match?
I was thinking about a go in Ellerslie. As you know, we were in front of you when we had season tickets there. I don't like the pillars though. I may try to get near you for a game. Are you still in the same seat?
