FA Cup again next. The rounds get closer and closer each year. Soon the final will be played in March. But! that is irrelevant here.

What kind of team should we field against Oldham?

Some players could do with a rest and I think we can afford to do that here. I'd definitely rest Suarez, Gerrard, Sterling and Agger. But I think we need to also take this competition seriously.

We could give a few young players a run out, get Shelvey, who hasnt been involved for a while involved and get Borini some more minutes. We could also give Sturridge a good chance to extend his run to 4 games.

    My team:

    4 2 3 1

    -----------------------Jones-------------------------
    ----Wisdom-----Skrtel----Carragher----Robinson---
    --------------Henderson----Allen---------------------
    ---------Borini-------Shelvey-------Suso-------------
    ---------------------Sturridge------------------------

Subs: Galucci, Johnson, Agger, Gerrard, Suarez, Pacheco, Downing.

    Thoughts?

Edit: I go to make a joke pole and in classic me fashion I miss type the question. It should read: When is a pole not a pole?

like that but i would start Downing then bring on Suso for hopefully when we are wining comfortably, 60 mins or so hopefully.

he will get more time on ball then hopefully as the game will be stretched, and do his confidence good, and maybe chip in with a goal.

Didnt realise that it was so soon. Maybe I'd put Borini up front then.

  5. Oldham on Sunday 27th and Arsenal on Wednesday 30th <ok>

I don't see any of Reina, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Lucas, Gerrard, Suarez or Sturridge playing. Only one of Henderson or Allen too.

I'm not sure we have enough midfielders for that. Though I suppose we may not need a proper defensive midfielder.

I'd assume v Arsenal we will play the same team as on Saturday but with Sterling in for Downing (and Allen in for Henderson...).

  7. Why not...? One of Allen or Henderson along with Shelvey and Suso can play in front.

For me that lacks muscle and a tackle.

I think that's unlikely after the way Henderson played last Saturday.

  12. Yep, agreed. I reckon we will play the same XI that faced Norwich against Arsenal <ok>

  16. I see what you are saying but we also lost that game, in fact our three man midfield was out fought by their two man midfield <doh>

I think I'm the only LFC fan who rates Carrick <laugh> Vastly underrated by most, uses the ball very well, has great positioning and awareness of the game and chips in with an odd goal. Bossed our midfield and was superb against Spurs too

  19. You are not the only one pal, I think he is a very good player but I also think the mancs over rate him too <ok>

I am sure a manc will be along shortly to say the same about us with Suarez. Again, I don't rate him as highly as others but obviously a very good player <ok>

I rate Darren Fletcher quite highly.

    -

Joe Allen reminds me a bit of Dirk Kuyt around 2007/2008 atm. He couldnt score if the world depended on it and every one was getting on his back. Rafa moved him to right wing and every thing instantly changed, he was relaxed, played better and even scored goals.

The morale of the story, dont play Joe Allen as an AM.
