OK so what do we do on Wednesday? Same 11 or change it. Doubt Adam will be back? Should we give Mayuka another go or bring in JRoD?

Think the back 5 pick themselves but thought Davis looked good when he came on for Morgan. Should he start?

    Thoughts?

JRod should come back in. Mustn't write Mayuka off after only one game, but he should get experience off the bench and not as a starter.

Agree Davis played well but hard to see Adkins dropping Schneiderlin or Cork. JRod to strart for me. Mayuka will be able to most hurt the opposition as an impact sub, with his pace.

Whatever he does I hope he will never play Ramirez out of position ever again.

He shoud just bring in Rodriguez or Guly to play in Lallana's usual position.

And please, please Nigel no more "Headless Chicken" not even on the bench.

I'm hoping the Fulham fans are right when they say they have no midfield. If we can boss that area we should be able to win!

I imagine one-goal will come back in at the expense of Mayuka, who I don't think we'll be seeing again for a while, utterly useless yesterday.

Well aside from just bringing 'one-goal' back in, what do we make of this?

Saints: K. Davis; Clyne, Fonte, Yoshida, Shaw; Cork, Schneiderlin, S.Davis; Puncheon, Lambert, Gaston.

OK Guys here's one to throw at you. How about playing Fox in Lallana's place? (Or has that already been mentioned?)
He is a good attacking full back so why not in the midfield? just a thought.........

You write off players quickly don't you?, glad you're not our manager or half the squad wouldn't have made it.

Assuming Lallana is out then what I'd do is drop Mayuka to the bench. Ramirez back in his preferred role from the start with Puncheon moving to the left where he is capable of playing. Guly in who is good at keeping the ball and played on the right plenty of times last season. Rest of team unchanged.

    Guly-----------------Puncheon---
    ---------Ramirez---------------
    ---------Lambert-----------------

Not a fan myself. Playing wide is a waste of Gaston's talent. He's not ballbustingly quick either and he doesn't glide past people like Lallana does. His vision and movement off the ball are better served in the middle.

    -----------------Davis
    Clyne-----Fonte-----Yoshida-----Shaw
    ------------Cork-----Morgan
    ---------------Ramirez
    Puncheon-------------------Rodriguez
    ---------------Lambert

I'd go for Rodriguez on the left, but I guess any number of players could work. That's definately the best shape though.

That is how I would set-up, I was just suggesting something fitting in with OllySaints1's comment.

Yesterday at times we seemed to be shoving the ball at Ramirez too often out wide, when he was trying to drift inside off-the-ball.

Where did i say i'd written him off? i said we wont be seeing him for a while because he has been useless almost everytime he has played, if anything i'd say Nigel will be the one close to writing him off.

I saw Guly in West Quay today. Also I think he should have a chance at Fulham.

Having only just recovered from yesterday's effort, I suggested last week about playing Fox at LM like you Beddytare, I think it is now a must.
Most importantly it will give us someone who can take corners, free kicks and hit a cross for Rickie
Additionally it will allow Ramerez to return to his best position just behind Rickie

There was no one anywhere near Ramirez yesterday, so it's not surprising that we didn't see much of him. It's easy to forget that a great pass is made at both ends. Lambert got owned by the big guys at the back and the game rather passed Mayuka by, so there wasn't anywhere for Ramirez to go.

This! When he came on for shaw late on it gave us an attacking edge down the left. Left footed player, good at set pieces. Why not? IMO preferable to playing J-Rod or gaston out of position.
