If we go there with 4-3-3 and the same starting line up as the last game it'll go the same way as QPR. One change is all thats required imo Giaccherini in for Larsson which changes the system to a more attacking 4-2-3-1. Let's go to win!!! ------------------Mannone----------------- Vergini-------Oshea-------Brown----Van Aanholt -------------Rodwell----Cattermole-------------- Alvarez----------Giaccherini-------------Johnson -------------------Wickham----------------------
I'd start with jozy up top Wickham has done **** all this season same as fletcher. And would drop rodwell instead of larsson ,would also play Gomez from the start he's looked great every time he's been on. So. Mannone Vergini O'shea Brown. Pva Catts Larsson Gomez Giacherini Aj Jozy
Whatever the team weve gotta go at them and go for the win. 7 points from the next 3 games has to be the target and obviously to progress in the league cup. We have some tough home games coming up after the next 2 so to avoid getting stuck at the bottom again we need wins and soon.
This is my take on it too but we must not underestimate these newly promoted teams on their own patch early doors, these games are six pointers and their cup finals.
I have the same feeling I did before the QPR game. I think Gus will stick with the same 11 as what started v Spurs :-/
Think it will be Vito Vergini Jo's Wes pva Rodwell catts Larsson Buckley Connor Johnson I would swap seb for Gomez, but I do think it's a good game for Buckley he will know the opposition for past experience and it will be just another game to him where as alvarez may not be able to do it "on a cold afternoon in burnley"
http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport/sunderland-afc/poyet-i-ll-tweak-my-team-but-not-tinker-1-6849660 Poyet told the Echo: “I would love it if without changing too many players, I can affect the game every now and then from the start. “Except if we are winning. If we are winning, I am not changing the team too much. “But if we come to a game, I would like to say, for example, we need Buckley because of the opposition left-back. “I want to see if I can manage the team a little bit better, without being a tinker. I hate that. “But it shouldn’t just be if you play well, you’re in, if we lose, you’re out. “I think we’ve got options now. “There are variations. Some give me speed, some give me mobility, some give me power. “For example, if everybody is fit and we play Stoke, then Santi (Vergini) has got a better chance because he’s 6ft 3in. But if I need someone to go up and down, maybe I pick Billy. “It’s changing the team, without affecting it. “I want to mix it because we’ve got those options now. “Of course, you’re not going to change the one who scores a hat-trick. “But it’s doing it without going too far. “At the moment, I haven’t done that. But players are pushing – Buckley, Giaccherini, Jordi, Liam (Bridcutt) and Billy.” Poyet admits there is a temptation to make wholesale changes at Turf Moor, as Sunderland continue their search for a first Premier League victory of the campaign. But the former Brighton manager realises that absence of continuity can be dangerous. He added: “I’m not going to change five players. “I think I’m just holding myself a little bit. I’m not in a hurry to go bang, bang, bang every game. “But I will see if I can manage it, depending on the results. “You cannot go crazy. I could change six players for this game, but I don’t want to change six. It’s not right.”
All about opinions smithy - just remember that Wickham has played up front once all season in a game where we had 40% possession against a very good side - and Gus thinks he was one of our best players (I thought he did well too). Wickham starts for me with Jozy on the bench and Rodwell needs games to get his match fitness back and has looked OK mostly. Larsson on the bench and Giaccherini starting!!
Mannone Jones O'Shea Brown Van Aanholt Buckley Catts Gomez Giaccerini Johnson Wickham Go with pace for the away game. If after 60 mins we need to change it bring on Rodwell, Alvarez, Altidore
I love threads like this (seriously) We're all great managers ourselves and have our own opinions and teams as if it's champ manager (or whatever it's called nowadays!)
I think he will go with Giaccerini and the emphasis on pace. We will be under pressure at times so hopefully catch them on the break. We can't give the ball away like we did at QPR and I'm more comfortable with having Wickham up the middle that won't happen. Putting Gomez in the middle along side Catts is a better option for keeping the ball. Giaccerini just behind Wickham and the pace of Buckley and Johnson......go with this team and I would predict a win 3 - 1 !!!!!
