I admit that I am starting this this thread as a form of therapy (for me) to move forward from last Saturday’s result. We can now all play at being Steve McClaren and chose the team that will hopefully get our first league points of the season. To be honest, I have no idea what the winning solution will be, but my approach would be to: - leverage what remains of our “good feel factor” from the Cup win against Peterborough - add some fresh blood and experience As a result, I would “rest” Ingram, Kakay and hopefully Lynch, and play Lumley, Rangel and Hall, should they be fit. The remainder of the first eleven is as for the Peterborough match: -------------------Lumley--------------------- Rangel----Leistner---Hall----Bidwell ------------Luongo---Scowen---------------- --Wszołek---------Eze--------Freeman ------------ ---Washington---------------- I have placed Eze in the “10” position with Freeman on the wing, however I would expect them to be very flexible. I will be interested in your thoughts on your team, and of course what McClaren will decide to do.
If all available i quite like the look of that team....... Apart from D. C. up front... .. Not sure what the alternative would be though
I also don't see any obvious alternatives other than Smyth or Sylla. Hopefully, we may get an alternative option with a loan, but we are limited with with what we currently have for Tuesday.
You can even watch our superb starting eleven in the UK from the comfort of your armchair: https://www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/qpr-s-first-ever-uk-live-league-stream/ QPR fans in the UK and Ireland can watch the R’s face Bristol City live online for the first time ever on Tuesday evening. Supporters overseas have been able to enjoy the live match streams from QPR+ for the past 12 months following its launch last season. We are pleased to confirm we can now extend this to UK and Ireland based fans for some Championship fixtures. Starting on Tuesday against the Robins, R’s fans can subscribe to watch for just £10 to a live multi-camera production with commentary from Nick London and Andy Sinton, along with replays direct from Loftus Road. Previously the service had been exclusively available only for overseas supporters. However, since the start of the 2018/19 season, a new set of rights enables the club to now screen select live fixtures online in the UK and Ireland. These are matches that fall outside UEFA’s Article 48 blackout window between 2:45 pm and 5:15 pm on Saturday’s along with Bank Holiday dates. Games being broadcast on Sky Sports or by an international broadcast will also remain unavailable. As such these will predominately be midweek matches kicking off at 7:45 pm. Full details ahead of each eligible match will be promoted on www.qpr.co.uk
Tough call for SM re Ingram and Lumley. Drop Ingram and risk a goalie shot of confidence for a long time. Lumley looks the better keeper to me.
Don’t disagree with that. I was there on Sat & I like Kakay, he shows real promise but we need some gnarly old pros and if we can get Hall back even better. The defending was shocking and while the attempt to play out from the back is admirable we really don’t have the players for it unless Pique and Busquets arrive on loan this week. Up front is very slim pickings....so I think we’ll be relying on the 3 behind for most of the goals We live in hope
Towards the end of last season when we had Smythies, I recall we played both Ingram and Lumley. I remember being impressed by Lumley, mainly for his better ball distribution. Now we also have a potential psychological issue. I really believe that a "Mental Coach" (that is modern popular) could really help in such situations. But as you say, a tough call.
We certainly have the potential to become psychological Many fans are now on a path to become psychos and we have forgotten what logical ever was Keeper was ****tenfucker Saturday looked incredibly unsafe I would play rush goalies Still fuming we lost Robertson, The Chief and The best keeper we have possibly had in years. Real cock up FFP fair enough but SM must of had some input to the sales He claimed we had enough and was excited about the season He purchased the German who looks poor imo but early days 0 points 3 played 10 goals conceded That to me looks like a poor manager who is clueless on defence and that must of been a directive given our away record
I don’t think Ingram should play, Lumley will be desperate to prove himself and that feels a better, less risky option. Pace up front with the midfield working hard to supply. Smyth in even though he looked average last time.
How much will the fine be if we say we can't play on Tuesday because our players are sh*te? Presumably a lot less than FFP. If we really must play then McClaren has to ditch the playing out from the back strategy as he simply doesn't have the players to do it and every team in the league is looking forward to us crumbling under a high press. We have no choice but to play Leistner but he in particular is a disaster with this tactic as his distribution is awful. I also really question the value of playing Luongo as he never seems to be available for the ball when the pressure comes on. Up front I now see Sylla as being the best of several rubbish options perhaps in a two with Eze. Yes, that's how bad things are.
We did - although I am not sure how good/bad Steve Black actually was. Mental Coaching is becoming common place in individual sports and is becoming more prevalent in team sports.
I would go with something like this: -------------------Ingram--------------------- -----------Leistner---Hall----Bidwell --Wszołek---Luongo---Scowen-----Freeman----------- ------------ ---Washington-----Eze----------- ------------------------Smith---------------------. I would give Wszolek and Freeman the freedom to swop with Washington and Eze. I am basing this on the fact that as the time of writing this, City are struggling with having any central defenders fit and available. Sylla and Smyth would be two of the subs I would use in the second half as I would go all out attack
A very interesting alternative proposal. I just wonder if in such a set up, would it not be better to have a genuine winger in place if Freeman? This automatically leads to a follow up question of where to play Freeman? Two number 10's instead of Washington? Thus, something like: ------------ -------Ingram--------------------- --------Leistner---Hall----Bidwell --Wszołek---Luongo---Scowen---BOS/Smyth ------------Freeman----Eze----------- ---------------------Smith---------------------.
