For me its time to throw Wickham in, sink or swim time son, Bruce paid a helluva lot of money on the kid and we aren't in a position to wrap him in cotton wool. For me we simply have to start going wuth 4-4-2. Gardner, Vaughan and Westwood should all make their first starts, also O'shea if fit. The key to this season could be how best to fit sess into a 4-4-2 if we can unlock that then we could have a good season. Yesterday for me he looked better when out right and skinned a few of there players got to the bi line but found a mix of there being no one to hit in the box and his final ball not being good enough. For me the rm spot is seb's so for Brighton id try sess from.the start on the left. I still think Gyan looks tight so could use a run out and a goal under his belt. My line up if available; ......................Westwood....................... Oshea........Ferdinand....Bramble.....Bardo.. Larssen.......Gardner......Vaughan.......Sess.. ...................Gyan.........wickham.................. Is it just me or does that look a better team that what bruce put out yesterday?
It does which is precisley why fat geordie wont play it or he will look a bit obvious after ****ing up the derby game. Mind, why ni Brown? Are you just resting him?
bardo is banned mate. so would put brown RB and O'shea LB. Also try Turner instead of Bramble (thats if hes fit). Other than that good team. Westwood deserves a shot, and your right about Wickham...though i would prefer a new striker
Westwood Brown - Bramble - Turner - O'shea Larsson - Gardener - Colback - new Irish Lad Whickham - Dong Would be my choice, solid midfield and defence (not too sure on the defence's fitness mind), should mean not too much pressure on the 3 young lads.
This is a cup game. SB's record in cups is the same as playing his home town team, effing ****e. 1 forward against a poor team at home yesterday is nothing short of a disgrace. I have been a supporter of SB but sick of him and players saying they will repair the damage. At least 2 up front every home game. Be positive SB. Dont want to hear any of the w*nkers apologising in the papers, sites, twitter etc on Monday. Put it right with your f*cking feet on the pitch.
Get it back on track syd, Bruce is our manager and I don't see that changing this year. How would you line up syd?
well, I would be looking at the team I wanted to start at Swansea and saying go out and win your place. WESTWOOD ELMO..BROWN..ANTON..OSHEA LARSSEN..CATTS..COLBACK..SESS GYAN..JI Maybe second half Gardner for Colback Vaughan for Ji and move Sess up front.
*Mag opinion alert* I'd only put Wickham on in the match if you guys already have a comfortable lead. If things don't go to plan, then Wickhams two VERY first games for Sunderland as the main goal provider will be losing the derby and getting knocked out of the cup. For an 18 year old lad fresh from the Championship, I think that'll really dent his confidence hard and could set his development back by quite a while. Might win with him of course, but it's very risky.
I agree. We need to win the game, get some confidence back and find our best starting 11. All the problems come back to that LW spot and second striker. Vaughan on the left is far from ideal but we need Larssen back on the right. We need Gyan to start getting goals and the 4-4-1-1 is not working. I love Colback but Vaughan is better playmaker and then we have Gardner, its Brucies job to find the solution but find it he must.
Although I think catts and colback have both had good games so far I think Tuesday is the perfect time to get gardner in there. Did no one else feel a bit bemused to the fact that it was blatantly obvious neither team were gonna score from open play and we had a central midfielder sitting on the bench who got double figures last year. Although I don't believe players should be picked on the size of the transfer fee id go for wickham ahead of jdw. Bruce has to show us why he decided to make him our most expensive signing this season
For me he has to play Gyan, just for match fitness and he can maybe get a goal or 2 to boost his confidence. Not sure if O`Shea is fit for it or not, but why not try Wickham on the left as he played there for Ipswich last season. -------Westwood----- Brown--Bramble--Turner--O`Shea Larsson--Colback--Gardner--Wickham ------------Sess------ -----Gyan--------- Subs = Mig, Anton, Elmo, Cats, Noble, Richardson, Ji.
agree bruce has to toughen up and pick his best team and not be scared of upsetting people! he has the chance to totally change the team and formation now ,and there is no one who can complain to be fair. think sess, cattermole and colbeck have been are best players so far but they know they have loads of compertition now so they cant spit the dummy out..
