With a large amount of injuries, the squads starting to look a bit thin. Garcia, Stewart, Olofijana, Barmby and Pusic are still out, we don't know if Waggy will be back(the fact that he didn't even make the bench yesterday is a worry) and Mclean had to come off yesterday, so may well be absent too. We're fine at the back, it will be the normal back four and keeper, with McShane and Gulasci on the bench, but the other positions are less obvious. It's fairly obvious that Cairney can't play on the wing, but we don't have any other wingers available, so I suspect Evans will be played there, as we looked better when he replaced Cairney out wide in the second half yesterday. That puts McKenna and Koren in the middle, with Brady on the other wing. The strikers will be down to who's available, it will obviously be Fryatt and AN other, if Mclean's okay, it will probably be him, or if Waggy's back then he can replace him, if both are still out, then we're down to just Adebola and Fryatt. That being the case, I'd definitely pull Emerton into the first team and stick him on the bench. With a lack of wingers and strikers, I can't see why he hasn't been moved up already, he looks a good player to me and he can play either out wide or up front.
I know what you mean, mate. During the week I noticed how both Man U and Man City rested their 1st squads and fielded completely different players. Ah - the luxury.........!!!
From what I've read Waggy was never going to be risked therefore not given a place on the bench, no point wasting a bench place if NP said he was not going to play. NP said he wanted to give him another week. Think Barmby should maybe make the Barnsley game and McLean I am told is thought to be ok.
We've only got two more games before the international break, after which Pusic and Stewart are expected to be available(possibly even Garcia too), so the club probably don't think it's worth it, we'd only need him for next week.
I don't think so, unless a special provision was made, you can't recall a loan until the window re-opens in January and his loan runs out then anyway. I think if he was still with us, he'd be in the squad, that's why I'm suggesting Emerton should up to fill that role.
my goodness i hope not. The fans around me and myself now spell his name C.R. A. P. Indeed, what dogs leave on the street is now Dog Devitt!
i agree, pointless having mcshane, harper and mckenna on the bench and only 1 attacking option......bit of a risk having somebody like emerton, but at least its an option, if we where to go 2-0 down early, isnt much to bring on from yesterdays bench to change things, tho i thought adebola did alright to be fair..
I think the lack of attacking options from the bench is a big problem, at the moment we've only got Adebola that's likely to have any impact on a game. Normally, we'd have an additional striker option, or Barmby to fill in many roles, but you're never going to change a game with the introduction of McKenna and Harper. I'd be more than happy to see Devitt on the bench in place of Harper, in fact if he had been there, I think he'd probably have started the second half.
Devitt is AWESOME, dont know why we ever loaned him out, he is a world beater, how can you call him CRAP !!! Come on everybody, lets linch him for saying a City player is CRAP Lol
talent, ability and enthusiasm would not beat Emerton. Unfortunately, expectation and inexperience might. However, if he is ging to make it as a pro, it has to happen sometime!
There is another option. We could give McShane a start, against the side he played for last season, at right back and push Rosie forward into right midfield. Brady on the left and play Koren just behind Fryatt (assuming McLean doesn't make it) in a 4-4-1-1. Basso McShane Chester Hobbs Dudgeon Rosenior McKenna Evans Brady Koren Fryatt Remember this is an option to deal with injuries, not a first choice option.
I suggested similar yesterday mate by playing the same team you name except play McShane at Left back and push Dudgeon into midfield. My team would be... Basso Rosenior Chester Hobbs McShane Brady McKenna Koren Dudgeon Waghorn McLean
aye, look at that kid at wycome yesterday,. 15 years old.....a different level of football of course, but as i keep saying, 19 isnt that young in the modern game, really need to be seeing if there good enough or not by now, cant keep them in cotton wool until there thirties!
Bringing in McShane and pushing Rosie up is an option but i think it's unlikely as Rosie's threat is that he pushes up meaning their defence has in effect 2 wingers to deal with. If McShane doesn't push up (god forbid) then Rosie's left on his own to beat the man and i think he'd struggle to do that more than a couple of times. The other thing is that his delivery is ok for a full back but would be considered poor for a winger. I'd be happy having Evans out there meaning he and Rosie can double up like we're used to seeing and even if they don't get to the goal line much they can stretch the defence a bit and leave gaps in the middle. The other option which i'm sure nobody wants to see and i'm only mentioning it because we saw it last season, is to put Harper on the right using the same idea as above with Evans, one thing you can't deny about Harper is he's got a serious engine on him and would storm up and down the flank without much trouble. I don't think it'd really matter, he's not a huge threat to our defence out on the wing like he is in the middle, and due to our lack of options we shouldn't expect any goals to come from that side anyway regardless of who you put there. PS i don't love Harper (honest!)
Hobbs is an odd one to use as an example, he's 23. Brady(19), Cairney(20), or Dudgeon(20) would have been better examples, even Chester is younger than Hobbs.
