Well I came(back to Bristol for a week), I saw and City conquered the Palace and Cardiff. Without getting carried away, a wonderful start of our home season. So what next for our boys on the road at Barnsley? Remember this is where the winning started for DMc so how will he choose the eleven plus seven to get all three points. IMO about eight/nine of the team from Cardiff pick themselves. Heaton, while I like Gerken did nothing wrong so will get the keeper spot again. Back four; Have to say that this position looked our weakest on Saturday so I would prefer Richard Foster along with the other three from Saturday. Wasn't Cunningham's display a joy to watch! Midfield; why change it but I expect DMc to go with five across the middle with perhaps Marv or Morris in there as it is an away game. Up front; if we go 4-4-2, then Stead - laid Woolford's first on a plate - and Baldock although, it would not surprise me to see Davies and Baldock. If it's 4-5-1, then I think we might see Baldock on his own. Other thoughts and ideas?
Why change the pattern because we are away from home....4 - 4 - 2 Wilson v Foster only change at the back Midfield..............Addy Skuse and Woolford......Pearson v Elliot v Morris Baldock..... Taylor v Stead or could play 3- 5 -2 .....................Wilson and Foster (subs) Addy Skuse Woolford... + ...Pearson v Elliot Baldock Taylor
Cunningham for me would be the first on the team sheet, still can't believe how good he is! Heaton Foster Carey Fontaine Cunningham Adomah Skuse Pearson Woolford Stead Baldock
Fantastic couple of results so let's see whether we can carry on the run at Barnsley. As one of the favourites for the drop, this is somewhere that we should look at getting at least a point if not all three, however I'm mindful that they beat Middlesbrough on the opening day at home. I've been very critical over our good form and am still shocked that were able to dismantle Sellout FC so easily. I want to believe that McInnes has turned relegation fodder into a hungry side capable of competing for the playoffs, but I'm still not fully convinced and I doubt I will be until we get a run going or until the results are on display after ten games. However, eight goals in two games is nothing to dismiss. I still think we need a solid central midfielder to provide and a solid centre back, but for the first time in a long time we're building from the middle and we're less reliant on getting the ball out to the sides. Additionally, a defeat won't be the end of everything for us, as for the first time in ages we've got great backups to take over if players dip in form. I'm going for a 2-2 draw because we're still not sure how this group will react to the expectations of a good run at the top of the table. However, I'm quietly optimistic that we'll score more than we let in.
Id go with Taylor and Baldock. Dont get me wrong stead has a high work rate but taylor leads the line stays central and pulls defenders away which will give baldock space. I think the cardiff game shows that going with baldock up front on his own doesnt work after they brought elliott on for taylor. Think DM noticed and why he then brough Davis on and we scored again. Need to stick to 4-4-2 as its also getting the best out of the midfielders. But i think taylor would make the best partner for baldock
heaton foster carey fonts greg albs skuse pearson woolford (as long as hes on one) taylor/stead (too undecided) baldock
I think DM may be a bit wary of 4-4-2 away, but I don't see how we can get the best out of all these strikers if we only play 1 of them! Can't change too much after those performances surely? So for me it would have to be give it a go and see how we do..... Heaton Foster Carey Fonts Cunningham Adomah Skuse Pearson Woolford Baldock Stead Nice kind of headache for the manager to have though!
4-4-2 Heaton Wilson M Carey (unless the long awaited new face arrives) Fontaine Cunningham- How good is he? Adomah Skuse Pearson Woolford Stead Baldock Let's go for it!
----------------------Heaton---------- Foster----Monk/Carey--Dawson/Fontaine--Cunningham Adomah-----Skuse-------Davies-------------Woolford ----------------Stead----Baldock-------------------- Maybe Anderson in for Adomah (hope he see's a future here, but football agents are ****ers who could sway him away from us)
The thing is, and no disrespect to Barnsley, but can we play such an attacking line up, regularly, away from Ashton Gate? While we may be playing one of the weaker (wtgr) Championship sides, could we play an attacking 4-4-2 at say Wolves or Blackburn? Do we think Del is going to try it? It would certainly be entertaining.
