Evening all,

Just had a mini discussion at the pub about the forthcoming season and who might play the role of on field captain.

Hammond & Fonte split the role last season, but when a new centre back arrives its likely that Jose will be the one to have his place under threat. Meaning both from last season will not be 1st choice regulars.

Who do you want/think will be our regular captain come Christmas? I think it will be Jos.

It needs some-one who has the ear of the whole squad. Depends on how Davis has settled in. To me a midfield general is the obvious choice.

I'd be happy with Jos just have a feeling Nigel may plump for Davis because of his premiership experience.

I don't think it really matters. You probably want someone who is media savvy but on the pitch you want everyone to be 'leaders'. Hammond is currently captain. So, I don't think that should change. If he doesn't play then Fonte or Jos and maybe Davis once he's fully established as a Saints player.

They should have a competition. Whoever is the best at guessing coin flips, can be captain.
