Seen a number of posts, including one or two from yours truly, bemoaning the lack of imagination or a plan B when things start going against us.

This cannot happen next year whichever league we end up in.

For me, we need a real thinking captain, full of authority and ideas and capable of putting his foot on the ball and switching tactics as and when.

Neither Taarabt, Derry nor Hall possess the necessary imagination, charisma and self-assured leadership.

Do you agree, and if so who would to like to see drafted in to give us that vital extra dimension?

Also, bit of fun, who was our best ever skipper?

(Best I've seen were Terry Venables, Glen Roeder and Mike Keen - in that order - who have I forgotten...?)

I would put Terry Fenwick in that list

Also up there from a leadership point of view is Alan MacDonald, he would have given his life for the team.

In terms of who would suit us and are reasonably realistic targets, Bolton's Kevin Davies or Newcastle's Joey Barton - they would work well with Warnock

Without a doubt I think the best skipper was Mike Keen.
He was always great at taking command on the field and being an example off the field.
In those days it was important to keep his team on a consistent basis and not think themselves better than everyone else ( even though they were).

    Interesting comments so far.

For me, Terry Fenwick was a great influence in all but one department - got his marching orders too often! Alan Mac? Yeah, you're right Norfolk... totally agree!!

Joey Barton? Well controversial... but wouldn't it be a bit like Fenwick?

Warnock would no doubt make expectations crystal clear to him AND I think Barton would respond in absolutely the right way

You could see Derry getting frustrated with the lack of options around him, but at least he didn't resort to trying the rediculous (if you exclude his overhead kicks!!). He was trying to drive the team on, but nothing was happening. I'd be happy with him as captain.

I was watching the Man Utd game last night and notices how much space thay got, even close to the penalty area. Hopefully we will get that next season - we may not need a plan B.
