We know we cant sit back and try and protect our lead but going overly attacking could be suicidal. One big decision Gus can make which could be the difference is having no passengers,.we need 11 men fighting. This translates to please no Larsson. We'd have beaten Southampton if Colback had played. I know Larsson did ok in the first leg but we cant afford to have a liability on the pitch. Fletcher after the weekend media storm needs a big performance and id be hoping he plans on doing his talking on the pitch so he'd start in place of Altidore for me. All the pressure is on United, lets get in their faces close them down and hit them down the flanks. Their fans will be nervous, their players will be frustrated and I fancy them to go down to ten men (Rafael lashing out at Borini) game ends 1-1 and were going.to Wemberrrly -----------------Mannone--------------------- Bardsley----Oshea------Brown------Alonso --------Cattermole--Ki--Colback------------- Johnson---------Fletcher--------------Borin.
cattermole had a stinker against Southampton. Colback has had stinker or 2 as well previously. larsson and Gardner are also guilty. The problem with our team is consistency. The team that finished the game against Southampton might fall apart against Man U, then Poyet brings on larsson and Catts and they save the day. They'll be applauded by the fans, until the following game when Poyet starts with them and they have a bad game again.
I don't think Cattermole had he stinker, he was better than Ki and Larsson. That yellow card was silly but he has the work of two men to do whilst Larsson dad jogs around no mans lad wagging his finger and checking his hair. Colback made more impact in his first 15 seconds with two tackles.
The key again will be the 6 man tag match in.the middle of the park. Giggs Carrick and Cleverly lost at the sol and we need to.win that battle again.
I think we're more than up to it. Press them high, win it back, keep the ball. When lose the ball, repeat. Served us very well so far this season. Give the ****ers time on the ball and they'll be trouble. Poyet needs to keep business as usual.
Put to music - it's a 2010's line dance called "The Larsson" (Point to the left, Point to the Right, point to the front, point to the back, Shout and tell someone else to do it, return and repeat) Colback was excellent against Southampton. Cattermole I also thought had an OK game - better than the other CM's as you say - prime example of people thinking "He got booked because he gave the ball away, he was crap"!! The Chelsea cup game a lad sat behind me and shouted "Cattermole you useless ****, it was a f**king stupid pass" I turned around and kindly pointed out that it was Ki who made said pass and his reply was, with no hint of irony "Still f**king Cattermole's fault, the useless ****". No word of a lie! I'd start Catts, Colback and Ki in the 3 CM roles tonight. Catts in front of the back 4 with Colback alongside him but given a bit of licence to get forward when the need/possibility arises. Ki behind the front man with Giaccherini on the Left and Johnson on the right. Me personally, I'd start Borini up top but I reckon he'll be out wide and Altidore up front.
Catts can,t play in front of the back 4 as he can,t play football (Villa a classic example) I quite like cats but my heart is always in my mouth that said please don,t play Larrson . If we can get £10M for cats gardner and Larrson I would be happy Then bring in bridcutt and a striker and sign Ki Then give colback a bloody good contract
What about Against Chelsea in the league cup where he out-passed Lampard? another example of one bad game making a bad player - He was poor against Villa - but I reckon had the crowd done what they did with Ki on Saturday and supported him and the team, he may have had more chance - Ki was poor at the weekend yet not a single thread has been dedicated to his performance and the only thing people remember is the turn and burst he put in leading to our second goal. If it was Cattermole and he set up 5 goals and gave the ball away once, the latter would be the only thing people remember as that's the mentality. Catts in front of the back 4, on his game, is one of the best there is in that position in this country. I agree we need to sign Colback - but if he won;t sign then what can we do? He'll end up at St James' Park or Everton I reckon if we don't get him tied down. Seb and Gardner can go - although Gardner would be in the squad tonight in case the match goes to pens - get him on in the 118th minute!
Marcus you get me wrong im not saying he is a bad player im saying he is a liability and it might be good to for him and us if he moved on. he made 3 vital mistakes against villa that's why the crowd got on his back Ki and Catts are different type of players Ki can play football cant, tackle cats can,t play football but can tackle. Its also cattermoles disciplinery record that I question and don,t give me the **** he should not have been sent of against hull there are games where he should have been sent off and wasn't. Its been going on since he came to the club And yet I like his shouting at the players which we miss but weighing up the options I would let him go before his injury comes back again
I wasn't at any of them - I can't remember a single Cattermole tackle which deserved a card not getting one! We have no midfielders left - Seb, Gardner and Colback all out of contract and if we let Cattermole go then what do we have left? Ki? Ki gave the ball away far more times and set up attacks for Southampton. Cattermole atoned for 2 of his 3 errors by making tackles but, if it'd been a Ki or a Giaccherini who had done identical - there is no way the crowd would've turned so readily. My point is you singled out his only bad performance this season. He hasn't had another one - Hull doesn't count as he was incorrectly sent off but was playing OK until he did. If it was up to me, he's better for the team than Seb and Gardner in every sense and he is still, on his day, one of the best DM's in the league - His fitness has been excellent this season so I wouldn't sell and I think it;d be a mistake to sell - particularly to someone around us (like we did with Sessegnon!)
well I don,t know who is blinkered you or me he has had a few bad performances he was shocking sat as well as larrson brown and ki he was shocking at hull before the red card so lets just say we beg to differ
I'd change Giacherinni for Catts (not because I don't like Catts as I am a huge fan) or Colback because I think we need to be a bit more adventurous, playing Borini as the second striker. Catts or Colback to start not both. Catts can be used later to secure the job. We are going to need to score tonight IMO to go to Wembley, so I'd like to see us take the game to them as they won't be expecting that.
I'm with you Marcus. Catts is as good as we've got in CM (incuding the sainted Ki) and is, for me, an automatic pick to play in front of the back 4. I wonder how many of the people saying stuff like "get rid of Catts and get Bridcutt in" have actually seen Bridcutt play.
I would go with ----------------------Mannone-------------------------- Bardo----------JOS-------------Brown---------Alonso -------------------------Catts--------------------------- -------------------Ki---------Colback------------------- ---Johnson------------------------------------Giacc--- ------------------------Borini---------------------------
I would play Giacc as well, he is someone comfortable on the ball and can take the ball in tight situations and not give it away. Our ability to retain the ball in this match will be the key to getting a result.
