As I've a early start (8) I like to have a few pints at tea-time a couple of times during the week (hence talking ****e at this hour) so I strolled down to my local with the missus and there was a camera crew there. They were there doing a doc on Military Road (Irish: An Bóthar MÃleata) The Military Road runs north-south across the spine of the Wicklow Mountains. It was constructed between 12 August 1800 and October 1809, in the wake of the 1798 rebellion, to open up the mountains to the British Army to assist them in putting down insurgents who were hiding there. Rathfarnham itself was the scene of some skirmishes in the early days of the rising.[4] It was one of the first purpose-built roads in Ireland. Four barracks were built along the way at Glencree, Laragh, Glenmalure, and Aghavannagh. The engineer in charge was Alexander Taylor (b. 1746), who was responsible for many other roads in the country, including some turnpike roads (toll roads).[4] btw this is history as opposed to Irish ****e but anyway I digress back to story.A world renowned musician was out the back singing away,Andy Irvine so I went up to the bar and an old codger was up there and was talking about the racing driver was out back singingMiss Malaprop eat your heart out
