ALAN Dunne believes he was lucky "not to break something" when Blackburn Rovers midfielder Tom Cairney caught him with a knee-high tackle on Saturday. Dunne had to be stretchered off during the Lions' 3-2 defeat after being poleaxed by Cairney as the pair challenged for a bouncing ball. And the right back felt Cairney should have been given his marching orders - even though referee David Webb did not even blow up for a foul. To add insult to injury, the midfielder, on loan from Hull City, took the corner which led to Rovers' decisive third goal when play resumed. "The boy should have been sent off," Dunne said. "I was lucky not to break something. He caught me on my standing leg, right on my knee cap and he deserved a red card. http://www.newsatden.co.uk/29387-dunne-blackburn-midfielder-deserved-red-card-for-tackle.html?
Well done Tom. Showing some round ones at last. The lad is playing very well for the Venky boys. I expect to see TC line up for Hull City @ Middlesboro in the Fac round 3 game.
Is he back by then? I'm not sure when his loan finishes. I do hope we bring him back and give him a good chance, he really does look to have pulled his thumb out, and he definitely has ability.
My thoughts exactly, if it was done to one of our players people would be moaning for weeks (see Barry and/or Nolan incidents this season).
Ah good point, someone puts you out for months with a bad tackle so its okay for you to do it someone else. Great logic.
It's a pain in the arse. If he does play for us then the only club we could sell him to would be Blackburn. If they want him then surely they'd get the deal done before January so it was seamless. If he doesn't play and they don't want him we can't even put him in the window to try and sell him.
