This is my third thread today I'm sure. Very unusual for me. I wonder if Tash is starting to infest my brain with his parasitic qualities.

Anyway, we've finally had a more recent chance to see Stevey Taylor over Williamson.

How do we think he did?

He scored a goal which was superb. I love him for that. However, what did we think of his defensive play compared to Williamson's? In his form at today's match, would you keep him over Willo (if Willo wasn't injured)?

He was better than Collo today (although Collo had a poor game by his standards).

Good on the ball, won every header, scored a goal. That said their only striker was Cameron ******* Jerome.

Every day of the week! Didn't loose a header, made every tackle (no rash challenges), scored a goal. Was calm on the ball unlike Williamson; for the first time his season there wasn't any balls lumped up top! Maybe Williamson was injured for the better. Forgot how much of a threat Taylor is from corners, something weve missed since the lass left...

    Taylor was quality today!
Willow has been good for the season
    Difficult decision
You decide on form they both are good partners for collo (both good in the air)
I'd pick Taylor overall---> He's got more pace, gives us something diff in attacking corners and he's passionate

This. A on form and fully fit Taylor IMO is the superior defender. Remember back in 06, 07 and 08.. he was class and had all the potential to be in England contention but injuries/relegation/loss of form have ruined him, therefore making him more inconsistent but on his day he's a very good CB who can comfortably play in the PL.

This. Must admit to being sceptical about Saylor before, but can't complain about his performance today and just hope he can keep it up.

Lets not big him up too much
He has been inconsistent in the past
But I think he has got better ability than Willo maybe not a better mentality tho!

We're lucky to have Colo, Taylor and Williamson. All great on their day.

Taylor was brilliant today and looked match sharp and ready to go.

He had a solid game, but we can't base it on one performance against a blunt attack, see how he does against West Brom & Chelsea <party>

Taylor was excellent today, didn't put a foot wrong, even if it was against an average Birmingham side. He needs to get a string of games together to try and find some of his best form.

    We'll see next week:

Anelka, Drogba & Torres is very different to Jerome & Derbyshire

I've pointed out in previous threads that Taylor is more of a goal threat from corners, just thought i'd mention that <smug>

Taylor was great today, you'd never think he'd hardly played this season, he looked comfortable and confident and his goal was well deserved.
I am a fan of Williamson (though his shirt pulling is worrying) but an on form Taylor, just makes me feel a little easier.

Lot of rose tinted glasses, Taylor has had good and bad days, been sent off too many times due to poor positioning, choices etc, he is not the best and has a hell of a lot to do to in my eyes to be a first pick.

Right? But Willo is slow, not great in the air, and poor on the ball. Positioning isn't the best and as much as people think he has this partnership with Colo, he doesn't.

Taylor is a far superior defender.

Also did Taylor not play against Chelsea earlier in the season... and play very well.

Yeah he has his good and bad days, I agree with Blacker-Than-Knight and I think people are reacting a bit too much after one good performance...

Was thinking. With Taylor being good at going forward and tackling. Could he be a decent replacement for when Tiote is suspended maybe worth trying it pre season. <run>
