This is not April 1st. I have just listened to Charlton Live. The two ideas from fans at the Target 20k meeting with Meire last week were: - to instruct the Charlton players to come over and clap the away support [as Frank Carson would have said... "its a cracker"] - to offer free away travel to away fans. I am not sure how offering to pay Syd Cheesewright's OAP concession on the train will attract 20,000 fans to watch Bury next season, but putting my scepticism aside for just a moment, surely any self respecting Charlton fan should be "empty chairing" this fiasco organised and hosted by a proven liar? Why are they talking about financially helping away fans - its an ok idea in its own right, but unless we are planning to take 20,000 to Scunthorpe in August, how will this attract more fans back to the Valley? And as for instructing the w**kers to come over and applaud the Charlton away fans - I don't remember Lennie or Curbs ever having to "instruct" their players to come over....but then again in those days we employed British players who had a bit of pride in the Charlton shirt. Imagine Lennie Lawrence having to instruct Steve Gritt to go over & clap our away support Another salient reminder IMO of just how low we have sunk.
What a lame idea. We need more techno music in the Cross Bars lounge with live DJ. Come on guys, think seriously about getting back 20k fans!
They must have had to change the committee as originally individuals like RE were on it. Why the hell a CEO is wasting their time on such initiatives when the team is bottom of the table is beyond me. No wait, it's not. It's because she has no clue as to what she is doing.
i'd be surprised if those involved in the running of it even attend next year. i'd be happy if only 2-3k renewed next year, and even those people i'd think were mad.
Honestly. as someone on ITTV said last week, there is a clue to the match experience people want in that all the seats in the ground face the pitch. The target 20k is pointless unless the whole idea behind running the club changes and that means RD out. Besides, while I hate digging out other fans, the ones behingd this are, for the best of motives, providing some sort of cover for KM to parade that she actually listens to fans. The best thing they could do is resign, and quote Fraeye as a reason for doing so. 20k under this lot? Charlton fans are'nt THAT daft surely.
Target 20,000 is nothing more than a box ticking exercise. "Engaged Fans?" - tick. The standard of ideas from the fans present is risible, but Meire and her minions won't mind that in the slightest. Isn't it a sign of the times when we are call our players clapping our away fans an "initiative"...
Some fans want status. It's not religious to Charlton, but those in the target 20k will most likely be revelling in their role. They should cause further embarrassment by leaving their role - or calling KM out when face to face. I have no doubt any of you guys on here wouldn't do so if in that position.
Free travel is pathetic as well Play decent football on the pitch then people will go Same in all areas of life if you offer free travel then that money needs come back into the club to cover the cost, you don't get nothing for free Price of a pint goes up , programme the following seasons matchday tickets or season tickets, tea, coffee, the boxes?
they're trying to do away with the programme and provide a pamphlet instead. people arent buying it anymore because the money goes to the douche.
Programmes have been on the decline for a number of years nothing to do with RD, this idea was mentioned way before any protests
I used to buy a program every game as a way of supporting the club but stopped doing so early this season some time before the protests started. Same reason though, I don't like giving money to the Flemish Frankenstein.
Another long established British tradition that these Belgian twats want to do away with. I don't buy a programme myself, but many long serving fans avidly collect them, and why should that bitch stop them?
The first matter of interest for the group - a poll on twitter asking our thoughts on the fans sofa. Zzzzzz. Did it really merit a poll? I think it's glaringly obvious what the masses think.
It's clear from Roland's diatribe that Project 20,000 fans are being used to give the pretence that they are listening to our voice. Time they told him where to stuff it.
target 20k denounced that they had met roland this week after roland had stated he had met fans. the fans he met were employees of UoG - they had an exchange of ideas. none were taken up. we're stuck with roland, although signs are that things might change. a year ago we were not for sale. now he's asking who would we sell to. in another couple of months he might actually answer peter varneys emails.
