http://metro.co.uk/2013/12/29/vince...ith-number-eight-in-their-birth-date-4244721/ Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan has already established himself as one of the more colourful foreign owners in English football. But Tanâs strange habits go a lot further than changing the clubâs colours and then deciding to hate the manager â after his bizarre transfer plans were revealed. According to reports, Tan has informed Cardiffâs board that he prefers them to buy players with the number eight in their birth date. So for example, any player born on January 8th 1988 would be right in there with Tan, who is planning on splashing the cash on new signings in the new year. Eight is a respected number in Malaysia, and Tan in particular has a keen likening to it, with the news coming as no surprise to those who know the Cardiff supremo closely. Madness.
8 is regarded as a lucky number across most of Eastern Asia, especially China. So is red, hence the colour change. He'll probably send them out with 0.8, 8, 88, 888, 8888.... next season.
His manic and bizarre ownership of Cardiff can only mean good things for us. I can't see a half decent coach or manager risking their reputation working for a ****wit like Tan. They will appoint an equally stupid choice to match the stupid owner and then be relegated.
The metro paper is ****e, there's no quoted sources in here either. I would take this with a pinch of salt.
The 'statement' has apparently come off the back of a journalist on the Sunday Supplement show on Sky (or whatever that programme was) Link here
How did he pass the "Fit & Proper" owner criteria, he is as mad as a box of frogs. It's about time the ruling bodies passed a law so that club names and the core club colours cannot be amended by loons like Tan and the Hull Tigers owner.
He is a loon, but a loon with money and it is all about money! it would seem to me that it is also linked with gambling, loan sharks and the mafia. Look how the so called celebs are advertising gambling to us all during televised matches, especially our FEKIN children. There are now at least 3 different betting adverts during every break, followed by the money lenders, such as wonga, with more and more slick adverts and stupidly high interest rates. It is utterly jaw-dropping for me to see that such companies are allowed to invest into premier league clubs, indeed any league club. FFS, it would be a joke but for the fact that they are laughing at us and what do our politicians try to do about it? ask them if they wouldn't mind stopping their advertising on kids programmes...... The mafia now run this country, which is why dubious people such as Mr tan are allowed to get anywhere near a club. Feel very sorry for the true Cardiff supporters and wonder where the next dubious person may be allowed to pop up and buy a club? Billionaire ex-drug lord from Central Africa buying West Ham perhaps? Oh, I forgot, they are already owned by the pornographic industry.
