just looking into the future, i hope tan doesnt do a QPR / Reading / Southampton and sack malky whatever happens next season. we clearly have the right manager and i hope they say to malky 'whatever happens next season you will not be sacked'. there is good pressure, and bad pressure, and a manager in fear of the sack in his first season in the PL may not be the recipe for success!

It's a difficult position to be in as a manager and an owner. MM has a lot of belief in himself and he's a bit stubborn, all the makings of a man who will not even think he'll be sacked. But then VT has to look at where the team is in the league after x amount of games and make decisions based on league position, not easy.
If we are playing fantastic crowd pleasing football but haven't won a game after 10 games does he think "we at least play exciting football" and stick with the manager and hope we start winning? Difficult decision.
However, if after 10 games we haven't won and we play some of the dross encountered in our championship winning season then it's an easier decision albeit still a hard decision.
MM is still learning his trade and I hope VT backs him no matter where we end up at the end of the season. I believe MM can keep us up there and we can move on to bigger things in time. So I hope VT keeps the faith ;)

It is so important not to have knee jerk reactions based on one poor run. There are recent examples of such actions failing and also an example where perhaps a prompt decision was needed.

Reading sacked McDermott so close to the season end - they still got relegated. In the press today their Russian chairman admits he was partially to blame for the club's demise as he didn't sign the players McDermott wanted in the January window. Perhaps he had already made up his mind to get rid of McDermott and didn't want a new man to come in and take on players just signed by the outgoing guy.

Until last night it looked like Sunderland's late sacking of O'Neil and appointment of Di Canio had worked - as I say, until last night. However, they still have a 5 point advantage over Wigan so might get away with it.

Conversely, Leicester have stuck by Pearson and look like failing to make the play offs. Perhaps he should have been shown the door a few weeks ago. Rumour is that he will go at the end of the season and O'Neil will return to make a full circle in club management.

Who would own a football club, eh?

Malky must have a full season to keep us up, we must be better than at least 3 teams, I'll settle for 17th but would like 3 or 4 positions above.

If I was the chairman; I would give Malky at least a whole season. He got us there and therefore deserves to be manager for all 38 games no matter where we are in the table.

Very few sides that get promoted and then sack their manager by Christmas do any better. I hope Malky gets a full season - he has done what others could not for you and if the start is a bit rocky there is no reason he will not sort it out at least as well as any other manager coming in. The post above got it right - there is good and bad pressure - no need to add to that on MM.

    Good luck guys
