I know its already been mentioned but I nearly choked when Durham did a complete U turn on his views of Sunderland. He was bigging us up for the signings so far and said that if Gibson comes and for a combined price of £12M this was the deal of the summer? He questioned why none of the other so called big 6 clubs went for any of these players and even asked if we could be pushing for a top 4 position (obviously showing his lack of knowledge regarding us), but he did think the squad we are building would be pushing for a top 6 at least! A couple of Man Utd fans also rang in to say that with the sale of Hendo(£19M) and with our signings so far we seem to be doing the shrewdist buisiness in the market at the minute.

Now all I want to know is which one of you "had a word with him" (wink wink).

 

He makes comments to wind people up and is very good at it. They get people calling in and good listening figures.

What he was saying is that with the signings Sunderland have made, particularly in defence, the expectation is higher for this season. It wouldn't say much for Bruce, Quinn and everyone involved if all those signings resulted in a mid table finish. Don't forget that before Bent left Europe was possible given the current form in the first half of last season. Everton haven't bought anyone and Spurs look to be in turmoil at the moment so this season could be one of the best chances to get into the Europa League. Yes he has extreme views but they are sensible to some extent.

I've got to say I love talk sport.
I have a 50 minute drive to work and back home again every day and always have talk sport on the radio, I think Ronnie on the breakfast show is the biggest knob, but I love Durham and Goughie on the afternoon show, they cannot be taken seriously and are a good comedy duo.
