Was anyone else listening this morning to Talk Sport? We got quite a few mentions which makes a change. However Alan Brazil really annoyed me when they started to talk about Lambert. Where Ronnie Irani was stating that he thought Lambert was showing he could push us towards the top of the table and promotion, Brazil was suggesting that it maybe worth some of the premier league teams having a look at him. Why is it always the same with Southampton coverage by the media. Even when we are top of the table and have had the best start I can ever remember to the season someone is trying to tout our players or slag us off. Was happy until that comment. Wish they could for once just give credit where credit is due and leave it there. It seems we will forever have to put up with this sort of tripe. Rant over....
take it as a compliment, only a few weeks ago there were some saying that Lambert was unproven in the champ and might not make the grade, two goals later he's worth a look by premier clubs!! If he score another brace against Millwall he'll be the next target for Real Madrid!. These people have got to say something to fill up the airspace and in all honesty I dont reckon many of them think too hard about what they say, its just knee jerk sentiment on the back of the last set of results. Anyway Rickies going nowhere, the Don will make sure of that!
I know NC would not let it happen and I imagine Lambert is loving life at the moment in a team that is playing good football and winning. I always feel that we get crap coverage and negative press and it just annoys me. Especially now for once we are enjoying some good times on the south coast. Lambert - Connolly - Lallana is working like a dream at the moment and I don't feel the media have ever given us any credit. Even if we were to win the Championship they'd focus on the team in 2nd!
I don't know HR. Rickie has spent all his career in League One/Two apart from the last 2½ weeks. We know he has said he would love to end his career with Saints, he is so happy and settled, and that's great. But hypothetically, what would happen if, say in January, an offer comes from a stable Premiership club, like Fulham..? I think Rickie comes across as a really nice, humble bloke in his interviews. Not a gold digger by any means. But we couldn't blame him if he at least considered it, could we..? At 29, and he never played at the very top, it has got to be tempting to almost any player, outside of the Premier League. Let's hope no one comes calling to test his mettle.
I was taken aback by what they were saying as it was all good! I think our style of football has caught they eye of the media. At Saturdays game for a long spell I was on my feet applauding
On day Rickie will be in the Premiership with SOUTHAMPTON! Le Tiss stayed here because he was happy and loved..he said, What do I need more money for? Lambert is cock 'o the walk in a winning team that is going somewhere..how could he not be happy. Love the fact that Nicola is giving key players extensions to their contracts...this means they have an investment in Saints' success. As I said on another thread, most people know nothing about us and our plans. Earlier this year, an article in a paper mentioned we had financial problems..bad journalism.
Seeing as Talksport have their own Listen Again facility, which is broken down in hourly time zones, does the OP know at what time they started mentioning Saints. I'll go and find a link then.
From about 7 am on wards and Keys and gay spoke about us as well, which must of made andy gay so so happy
Pardon me, but that's a big window to look through. Any chance of being a tad more specific..? Say for example, 7.30 to 8.00am..?
If teams want Saints players, they'll take a run at them regardless, so might as well enjoy the fact that our play has been such that perception is now that we're loaded with Premiership-quality players.
Well, I've had a quick perusal through both the Brazil & Irani and Keys & Gray Shows [still without the grey matter dribbling out through my earholes and down my nostrils] and all the talk was about Arsenal, Man City and the financial situation at Coventry. Not a mention about Saints worth bothering to link to. One guy phoned on the Brazil/Irani Show and was slightly amusing, but that was it. Obviously being top of the Championship, with a 100% record [albeit only 3 games in], tonking respectable opposition 5-2 at their ground isn't worth talking about. As highlighted above, Brazil mentioned about a Prem side taking a punt on Rickie. What a f***** cheek. Insult to the player, IMO. Anyway, that's Talksport for you. It doesn't change.
That's the bit I'm on about. Almost crashed the car. Felt like Brazil was saying he should go to a better club. What is he anyway, some sort of player pimp?!?!?!?
