After watching the two high scoring games over the weekend one thought kept coming to mind and that is the absolute need to score when you get a chance in this league. In the first match Spuds were well in it for the first half and had several decent and half decent chances. If they had of taken one or two of these then IMO it would have been a very different game. The big game was magnificent to watch as a neutral. Amazingly, Arsenal had several chances early on and even though they were hammered, if they had of converted some of the early chances i believe they would have given a better account of themselves. Goals also breed confidence and gives a team something to hang onto. The lesson for me here is very simple. Goals win games and nothing else matters. We had chances early on against both Bolton and Wigan and did not take them. Our strickers look decent but DJ, Tarbs and Bootsy have to learn to take chances when they get them. Hitting the post or bar is no good, they might as well hit the corner flag. If we are going to survive and thrive in this league we have to learn to be clinical in front of goal. Just my thoughts!!!!
I agree. On the flip side, we had one chance at Everton and nailed it whereas they had half a dozen and squandered them. I wonder what striker Nelly is in for?
Which is why you've got to question warnock starting with dave in the last 2 games. I would have given Hewitt a shot, he can't be any worse!
