The FA To Decide On Cellinoâs Leeds United Bid Massimo Cellino could have to wait for up to twenty days to hear whether the FA will approve his 75 per cent stake acquisition of Championship side Leeds United. The FA have been provided with all the relevant documentation from current Leeds owners GFH and Cellino, but the earliest any decision is likely to be made is in ten daysâ time and the latest is three weeks. According to Isola24Sport, the delay in receiving clearance has meant that Cellino will have to temporarily postpone his efforts to bring Elland Road back into the clubâs ownership and that Cellino will take over from current chairman Salah Nooruddin. Ever since he announced his intentions to buy Leeds, Cellino has faced bitter opposition from fans due to his past convictions and the manner in which current manager Brian McDermott has been treated. http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2014/02/the-fa-to-decide-on-cellinos-leeds-united-bid/
Square ball reported five days so I guess no one knows. With our season over another few weeks really doesn't matter once he gets through
Unless Cellino really doesn't know what he's doing, BMD will still be in charge come the start of next season.
Personally I don't think there is a chance of that being the scenario, I fully expect us to win and lose a few between now and the end of the season with a finishing position of 12th to 14th if Ross stays fit. Performances are poor, the team play decent for 1 or 2 games then they put in 2-3 real poor ones, Cellino will not stand for that. Just my opinion mind you so what do I know
The beauty of this site Ristc is that all opinions are welcome.... even if they're rubbish like yours and spot on like mine!!!!!! Whilst I extract my tongue from my cheek, can we settle on this being referred to come the end of the season?
But why Boggers. There are many better managers across the world than McD.I can't name them but on the law of averages there are. he's a decent manager, thats all.If Cellino digs 50 or 60m out of his pocket to buy club and invest in players, if he believes he has a better manager in mind, why wouldn't he or shouldn't he go for it. Lots of companies when taken over bring in new management and I don't see Cellino being any different. McD has lost a dozen games already in two thirds of a season. In my opinion, that does not make him indispensable like some would like to think
Assuming we're not getting promoted this season and realistically a mid table finish is the likely outcome, whether we like it or not Cellino has his own way of doing things with regards incoming players. I can't really see how McDermott would adapt to this style of management/coaching, so there's no benefit keeping him beyond this season. There'll be an influx of foreign players paid for (and probably chosen by)Cellino and there are coaches out there more suited to working with this system than McDermott. So with that in mind, I wouldn't even give McDermott until the end of the season, as it's valuable time for the incoming coach to look at who's worth keeping out of the current squad, look at what the youth players are like, just get to know the place before the summer. The sooner this takeover gets ratified the better, and the new era can begin.
Its not that BMD is indespensible, its that with our current squad and thee players BMD has inherited, we are still in with a chance of top 6 and play offs. If he's got us this far with this squad, how much further could he take us with more money and an improved squad?
Towie (sorry LiE) makes a valid point. If Cellino suddenly starts to foister foreign imports and Uncle Festa on BMD, I can see BMD (and possibly some of our better players) walking very quickly. Time will tell.
McDermott will be gone within the first week Cellino will bring in tons of Italian players and will want an Italian manager You will all be drinking Peroni and eating pasta and pizza on a daily basis
Have to agree, like it or lump Cellino does have his own style and McD will not like it and I can't see him wishing to work under the owner in this manner. Once McD has left the building at least a new coach will hopefully sign on the dotted line to take us forward knowing EXACTLY how it is, think you have hit the nail square on the head LiE If it gets us back into the premier league or at the worst gets us playing more attractive football then bring it on
Doesn't matter how long it takes once it happens. Too late to affect the outcome this season now anyway
Agreed but it could have a big impact on next season... No doubt Cellino is not going to keep McD so the sooner a new one gets in, takes stock of what we have and gets the team playing a different type of football we can use the time to develop ready for next season.
Yep agreed. I just want new regime, owner, manager and players. Get rid of the crap we currently have and start with hopefully a better level of all. Sickening to watch some of the clowns we currently have masquerading as footballers
