Yes, I’m a policeman and yes my pay is entirely funded by tax payers. But that’s the good thing as I get a huge reduction on my taxes anyway due to my profession. Winner winner chicken dinner.
Today's Verse of the day (from the Bible app) is rather apt: If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 1 Corinthians 13:1

I earn my wages selling on Amazon - there are actually a lot of UK companies who do too - so don't always think that you're only lining Jeff Bezos' pockets when you buy from there. However, I agree with everyone that they are a bad thing for this country because they hoover up cash and send it abroad. France have several of their own online marketplaces (like Cdiscount) who base their business in France and pay french taxes. The UK needs the same - we have a reasonably new marketplace called OnBuy, if everyone used that then it would make a big difference to this country. Amazon have the Government by the balls because of the amount of people they employ, so don't expect the politicians to sort it out. In this instance, change needs to come from the bottom - the consumer.
Perhaps a single point UK sales tax is the answer.for every transaction.. a fairer way than paying no tax
Amazon don't really use much in the way of loop holes - they use R&D tax credits to offset their bill, as they're always building and developing new things - that's something that's available to all businesses. They also base their operations in a low business tax environment - Luxembourg - requiring them to base their operations here would need a change in the trade rules that the UK has played a large part in implementing over the last few centuries. I really don't see a solution other than the UK public boycotting Amazon and buying from OnBuy or independent websites.
The UK implemented a 2% online services tax recently.. Amazon and Google Shopping passed it straight on to the sellers - eBay to their credit absorbed it like was intended that the others would do.
