    Rooney.
Now we know he has been banned for 3 games, which means he will miss the group games for the Euros, is it worth taking him or not?

The man's a liability! When he's good, he's very good, but when things don't go his way he's a petulant nightmare.

We have to cope the group stage without him, I say find his successor now and leave him to rot at OT <ok>

I am thinking along the same lines Dave. If we did take him, would he be a help or a hinderance if he played?

Of course, we may not even get past the group stages.

Neither Welbeck or Sturridge made the Montengro squad if I remember correctly, if they keep up their current form, they should be in with a shout. Why compromise your squad for someone who may not play, and if he does, won't have played international football for a year? I'm sure Capello said he wouldn't pick him for friendlies pre-world cup.

LEAVE HIM, Capello and others keep saying he needs to learn ROWLARKS he's a grown man he doesn't need to learn he just needs to stop acting like a twat.

Don't get me wrong he's a great footballer but the guys a liability on the pitch and i'd like to see him left out of the squad tbh and lets face it it's going to make no difference to whether we win the thing or not LOL

Leave him behind, the ban could get extended for the appeal being frivolous.
It's no one fault but his own, he can't blame UEFA, there was no need for the kick

Must admit I did cringe when I read Capello's comment "He will learn from this" etc
How many chances does the guy need? It's not like it's the first time he has been sent off.

As good as he can be when his mind is 100% focused on the game I would be quite happy to see him stay in UK and suffer with the rest of us as he watches the group car crash on his 50" Plasma TV.

Typical media reaction led by the BBC!

"England's hopes are dealt a MASSIVE blow"

What a load of bollocks! Just when will our beloved media learn that football is a team game played by 11 players. Now that Rooney is out the press will now start putting pressure and expectation on the poor sod that takes his place! It was the same in 70s with Keegan, 80s with Brian Robson and the 90s with Gazza! When will people wake up and realise taht no one player should be greater than the team!

Just one interesting stat: Apparantly England have won more games without Rooney than with him!

    Leave him at home.

He can't play in the groups so a couple of others are going to get a chance. Lets say for arguments sake those two are Welbeck and Bent. The three group games see Welbeck score a goal a game and Bent score two. What happens at the knock-out stage? Do you drop one of those two who are in form and stick Rooney back in because he's Rooney? Do you persevere with Bent/Welbeck and use Rooney as an impact sub, but at the same time risk annoying him because he thinks he should be playing?

Then of course you have to factor in injuries an suspensions at the tournament. Its pretty standard that four forwards go. Lets say its Bent, Welbeck, Rooney and Crouch. Rooney is out for three games so that leaves three. If you lose one of the remaining three in the first game you're then operating off two forwards for the next two games.

Of course this is all academic because we're unlikely to get past the group stages anyway.
