Very concerning, plus strong rumour circulating SoD will be gone at the seasons end.

I did wonder if all was rosey in the garden.

Cant see it myself. He knew when he came here that we were likely for the drop and I expect he was told we want him for league 1

    Stuart Parsons ‏@stuparsons1 23h

    Stuart Parsons ‏@stuparsons1 23h
He said what was the problem? I asked 3 questions

    Stuart Parsons ‏@stuparsons1 23h
1 why has this team got so little ability the team has been here our whole championship tendor! He replied we are a basket team

    Stuart Parsons ‏@stuparsons1 23h
I asked why not recall burns or use a youth team striker when options are low such as krans! He replied! Wouldnt help us

    Stuart Parsons ‏@stuparsons1 23h
I asked then do u think were down! He said its a lost cause which was hurrendous to hear from our manager!

    Stuart Parsons ‏@stuparsons1 23h

The rumour that SOD will leave is surprising . Mainly because the unhelpful rumour mongers seemed to have become extinct after GJ left. The other one "doing the rounds" concerns SL's intentions for the club. It seems now relegation is all but confirmed a sizeable group of fans want to tear apart the club.

As for the twitter stuff, a hystericle reaction from a few addicted to being hystericle. SOD answered some questions with honesty, andtthere's plenty of reasons to doubt was has been posted.

I have said a few weeks ago that i had doubt whether SOD will be here next season as dont forget he hasnt signed a long term contract, he is on a rolling contract so at any time the board or SOD could decide to part ways and im not sure if SOD is a manager / head coach who would want to be managing a leaugue one club if a championship club vacancy came up and there are some like Leeds currently vancant.

He is an experienced championship manager and if a club came in they wouldnt have to pay any compensation which could attract clubs.

Though as a fan id like him to stay if.... He changes the way the team plays and the players, as it would be hard going to city play another season the way they have been lately as if we play the same tactics we wont be going straight back up in what is another tough league to get out of

Twatter is a social networking tool that people can write, what they like. Do I believe this no I just wondered if the link was written by him himself or someone linked to the club.

I would take that as a pinch of salt.

I guess it depends on whether he has the stomache for a project like this or not. In the past he's talked about loyalty and getting the job done.

    Who is Stuart Parsons?
And if he did actually speak to SO'D, we all know how uncooperative he can be with people who ask him questions that irritate him.
Take this lot with a very large pinch of salt.

    Andy, not this again....

He is on a 1 year rolling contract so, when he woke up this morning, he had a brand new one year contract. Furthermore, when he wakes up tomorrow, he will have ANOTHER shiny new 12 month contract and again the day after, and the day after that, ad infinitum... This means that he is effectively on a NEVER ENDING contract with us with a one year notice period to be given by either party so if we say thanks but no thanks, then we owe him a years money or IF, for instance Leeds, want him then they will have to compensate us for 1 year so, he can't just walk away for free (unless we waive the clause)...

As for leaving, I'm not sure he quite realised what the expectations are here. We have delusions of grandeur and the turnout of 19,000 odd for a team that is doing so dismally badly may just have made him realise that this is not the same as the footballing backwater of Doncaster. He is also aware of the comments floating around on forums like this and is well aware that we do not appreciate going out of this division with a whimper and by that, I mean our dismal away performances.

SoD needs to polish his media skills but the comment about us being basket cases (if true) is not too far off the mark so he can't shoulder the blame for this season. I am reserving judgement and will wait until the summer clear out and see what he does with a team of his own before I form an opinion.

I am very much hoping that he does what he was bought in to do which is get us playing good football again and if he does that, he will have no trouble winning us over but only if we become an attacking side away from home as well. We will be a big fish in League One and we will expect promotion next year so SoD will have no excuses for not adopting a positive approach away from AG with his own squad (rather than having to set them out to do the best damage limitation exercise he can) - failure to do this will be the end of him, and very soon...

    Well said Prem or bust.

It's about time all supporters realised what a one year rolling contract means. It is a great deal better for a club than a fixed term of two to four years as if we want out we only pay one year! And if the manager wants out to go elsewhere, his new club only pay one year. so we don't have to haggle for a "managerial transfer fee".

Going back to the twitter remarks that started this thread. I would not put it past SO'D or ANY OTHER MANAGER IN OUR POSITION to throw away a couple of comments like "basket case" and "it's your team when confronted by anyone half an hour or so after another gut wrenching defeat.

Written words do not however tell the whole story. One has to see the face of the person making the comments and know the full scenario of the overall conversation.
If Mr Parsons was being ultra polite or ultra aggressive? What is Louis Carey supposed to do to Parsons comment? For all of us it is usually very difficult to hide body language; I expect Louis is just as unhappy about our situation as every City supporter. Why not as he's a Bristolian and has been with City for more than 20 years. I'd be absolutely amazed if he did not show any disappointment.

But did Mr Parsons imply wth his comment that the rest of the squad do not care? Frankly I knew players in the past who would have laid Mr Parsons out for such an insidious comment.

And even though I do not know SO'D, never having met him or spoken to him, would we not expect him to be even more hurt by our situation and to be on a short fuse if spoken to by an irate or angry supporter.
The one thing that I've learnt as I get older, is that throwing blame and vitriol around at a time like this doesn't do any good at all. So Mr Parsons and any other like minded City supporters should take a step back, take a deep breath and try very hard to imagine that everyone employed by and concerned with Bristol City FC is feeling very tender at this time.
It will actually be a relief to most when our fate is confirmed!

And the quicker that Twitter is wiped from the face of this earth, all the better.

If you are serious on both sides a longer contract is a better commitment a chance to build a team for promotion, however if you need a way to escape huge payments as a club it works although not much compensation if you are really doing well and another club comes in for the manager(this of course will not apply in City's case this season).

I agree that you may see him go to a club who are more financially sorted perhaps in a higher division next season than City.Depending on who goes in the summer will shape the financials avaliable and his ability to attract a fresh decent crop of players on lower payscales.

Agree that the board would have taken some of the pressure off of O Driscoll by perhaps saying even if we are relegated we want you to manage us in L1 suggest he will thrive in the lower league and you will enjoy matchday anticipation once again.

Next season probably cannot come quckly enough for you.

Perhaps its the "Coppel syndrome" again......the more astute and experienced managers, like SOD and Copout, have seen something deep deep in the bowls of BCFC that they are not happy with?......just my devious little mind !

EDIT...thats asuming there is any truth in it at all of course!
