The vast majority of Cardiff City fans are willing to see where this RE-BRANDING takes us, so why is it, maybe a few hundred fans are trying to speak for the rest of us ? Demanding meetings with the board etc. I work with many Cardiff fans and only one as been against turning red. The rest about 25 or so have been willing(a couple reluctantly) to give it a go. So if we transfer that to our average gate last season 23k it means about 700 fans are against us turning red. As far as some fans claiming to rather see us in the 4th division playing in blue , rather than playing in red !!!! Makes me wonder who the real fans are? I personally have had enough of this RED/BLUE debate, cant wait for the season to start, and I'm looking forward to see us in red. Playing in Blue we have had in over 100 years, one FA cup win a few years in the top flight, a couple of good nights in Europe, but many more seasons playing in front of less than a couple of thousand fans, struggling in the bottom division. See you all in August .
I'll support the Bluebirds forever and, although I still feel strongly about changing our shirts and badge, I would never walk away from the club I've supported for over 30 years. I do however sincerely hope the Malaysians do have our greater need at heart and will provide the financial support to get us to the Premier League. If and when that happens we won't miss the few hundred fans who are currently against the changes and who will probably be down at the CCS for the first game anyway. If Dato and TG were to pull their support what's the worst that can happen? We can always start again and if we need to go back to playing in blue. We do however have our best chance for many many years, thanks to the promised financial backing, to move forward positively under a good manager and I for one am looking forward to much better times as a Cardiff City fan.
I'll try and get to a game this year :L Living in Cornwall makes it difficult! Whatever colour, we're still Cardiff City.... Bring on the Football
Every home game for us is away due to the distance but what the hec -I wouldn't miss supporting my team which is Cardiff City. We will always be the bluebirds and we are already looking forward to at least 10 away games aswell next season. I hate the summer with no football and my daughter and son are exactly the same. Can't wait for the 18th August
My username is quite unfortunate at this point in time! I'm completely in favour of the change to red in the hope of this club continuing to progress, obviously if someone joined now they would see me as one of the fans calling for the Malaysians to reconsider... Cardiff City Forever! Whatever the colour!!!!
I know I am just a Swansea caravan dweller, but I fail to see what all the fuss is about; red, blue or pink - it's only a kit! What matters is the continuing existence of your beloved team and if changing the colour that you play in secures the investment that gives you a very bright future then it's an absolute no-brainer!! Tradition and history are not written in stone; they are fluid, they evolve and change like everything else in this world! Nothing stands still - just about every team has tweaked its identity at some point in their history - you just happen to be doing it now to secure massive investment that will ensure your survival and possibly take you to the next level - in a few years it will probably be viewed as a 'storm in a teacup' as the next chapter in the history and tradition of Cardiff City is written! And you will always have your tradition and history – you can continue to look back with that nostalgic and warm feeling – it aint gonna go away – but history will continue to be written and years down the line you will look back at this time with a similarly warm and nostalgic feeling – but hopefully you will be doing it from a position of strength; from the position of a sustainable top flight club that just happens to wear a red kit! You will never forget your history or tradition but times change, and those who don’t move with the times stay where they are and eventually fade away! Funny as it may sound I have many friends who are CCFC supporters and most of them are right behind the changes – what sane supporter wouldn’t be; as a lifelong Jack I have gone through the whole gamut of emotions during my years supporting the club, and in the darkest hours I wouldn’t have cared less if the team had turned up naked as long as there was a team to support! So to those Bluebirds who are stuck in the past I would say ‘get over yourselves’ and get behind your team; what difference does it make what colour you play in? It’s still Cardiff City; you still have a team to turn up and support, you still have a team that will create its own history and, more importantly, you now have a future that is not built on sand! Your Malaysian investors have provided you with a solid foundation that will give you the opportunity to build and prosper – so get behind them, every Bluebird one of you – they are the future of your club and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that!
As usual an eloquent and fair minded contribution, and one that pretty much sums up my own opinion. The only thing I would say is that we shouldn't decry those who are finding the change difficult. At the end of the day, we are who we are and we all react differently. In fact, now being a fan for over 50 years, I'm quite surprised at my own enthusiastic reaction to the rebranding. That said, if there are any who are just reacting negatively for the sake of it, or with hidden agendas, I think they need to try and open their minds a little. SC. It seems like there are exciting times ahead for both South Wales clubs - change a shirt or change a manager, we the fans are our respective clubs.
Absolutely agree Clingo - and am not disparaging those genuine supporters who are finding the change difficult - just feel that there are some that are using this as an opportunity to slag off Cardiff and their benefactors; as I said in my response, I firmly believe the majority of Cardiff supporters are totally behind the change! And yep mate - exciting times ahead for all things Welsh! Long may it continue!
We can change some of the songs just to annoy them I only have one what do you think I'll be ther I'll be there with my red city shirt i'll be there I'll be there with my New dragons shirt I'll be there
I don't think it was 700 people. The whole club only has 700 members and I think only about 30% voted so about 16 % complained. When I went to school that was about 105 people. you wouldn't miss them if they never went to city again
