So it begins... With Shaw, Lallana and Lambert leaving for about £60m, and Lovren to go for another £25m, the Saints were always going to be relatively big spenders this year. They've just signed Tadic for £11m from Twente and I'm just wondering if he is any good? I had a feeling they may be candidates for relegation this year but maybe they'll look to actually replace the players who've gone. Mike Ashley, pay attention.
already wrote a couple of posts on him: http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/267247-Summer-2014-Transfer-rumour-thread-Part-V?p=6700456&highlight=tadic#post6700456 And I mentioned him in my transfer targets blog a month ago: http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/264222-Summer-Transfer-Targets-Eredivisie
Morning all. Relegation no way. Koeman would have known who was leaving and a manager with his pedigree wouldnt have signed on for a relegation scrap. He's still got £90m to spend so watch this space.
We do, and with more than a little envy, but good luck to you, any cub that can develop talent the way you have deserve to prosper, playing the right way too, amazing.
Cheers mate. Think both Shaw and Lallana have gone for over the odds so confident we can replace. Gutted to lose Rickie but cant begrudge him his dream move. Onwards and upwards.Still got some top youngsters to come through.
Not Lallana, he's a £25m player all day long. If Ozil's being valued at £42m Lallana's worth what the bindippers paid. Shaw definitely, but that gamble could pay off as well long term. Lovren will be a big miss for you lot, and the playing staff must all be wondering where the ambition is when the best players all leave en mass. I'll be surprised if Koeman makes any progress on last season, I reckon it'll be a step back for your lot this year unfortunately, and I mean unfortunately because a few additions to last season's squad and you'd have been displacing Spurs and Everton I reckon.
Good to hear, I hope your optimism prevails, I sailed from Southampton on a regular basis in the 60's and still have a soft spot for the place, regardless of Macemenemy and Shirley Poppins, hell of a trail though.
Lovren hasnt gone yet but £20m+ is way too much for him. We can get 2 CB's with that. Will be difficult to bed in a lot of new players but Koeman is no mug.
He's definitely not a mug fella, but you don't have to be a mug to fail in the Premier League. I reckon he's got what it takes but because it's gonna be a lot of work in such a small amount of time you could be taking a step back or maybe standing still for a season, when really a lot of neutral fans have been excited to see where that squad would go. That price is way too much for Lovren, but obviously when they're forking out £17m for Sakho it looks like a bargain to the skip rats.
