I thought Johnson would be a bit of a tactician. Take yesterday, it was obviously something we had planned. We had a corner and our supposed tall lads, were on the edge of the box but towards the kick taker, Leadbitter. They peeled off towards the far post leaving their markers wondering what the **** and playing catch up. Leadbitter for some reason plays a short one, then it was played back to him to cross, completely losing the element of surprise. Surely the short corner wasn’t part of the plan

Talks a good game, but he hasn’t made much of a difference imo. Brought Mcgeady back into the fold which has helped, but other than that not much has changed. I know exactly what corner you are talking about btw, it was bizarre.

  3. Players with hesitant skills, not quite executing moves as planned.

You can talk tactics or whatever you like, but if the players can't execute the plans their ain't a thing any coach can do about it. Except get rid of them. Don't judge LJ until his own squad is assembled.

    That’s
That’s why I said surely the short corner wasn’t part of the plan and I never judged Johnson.

I didn’t see the Ipswich game, perhaps I should stop watching altogether. I’ve missed Lincoln, Wimbledon and Ipswich

I remember early days Johnson said he would need to specifically work on corners as we werr shocking We would rarely miss the first man and when we did everyone was doing a statue impression in the middle. You can see they have worked on different routines in training but the short ones rarely seem to come off. The one referenced from yesterday looked odd and then to go short didnt seem right. What is better though is when we do put a decent one in the middle we have players on the move. We have also put a couple in deep and players moving round the back and they have looked useful.

That was bizarre. I think we are on the right lines doing out of the ordinary routines because defences won't be used to it, but surely the important bit is to get the ball into the box at the right time to take advantage. Why we played it short I have no idea.
