this is how i see us lining up next season at home at least, it's counter attacking football and if you're familiar with the gegenpress of Jurgen Klopp it's how i see us getting most of our goals next season, high intensity defending from the front with Fred dropping deeper to drag defenders out of position.http://lineupbuilder.com/?sk=by15c

Surely you've somehow got to make room for Pilks in there? Can see Ralls/Whitts and Okeefe/Gunner being the swap able options In that formation the competition for places in midfield surprised me - considering how we tried almost every combination of the past two seasons and none of them really seemed to work. Most of us on here are still calling for another midfielder!

Trollope seems insistent on fitting players into his formation and i can't see pilks getting in there unless he's the flase nine to pull defenders out of place

We'll be well organised next season and I don't believe we'll see many players other than Marshall and the 3 CBs playing huge strings of games, there'll be plenty player rotation. Given it is likely to be a high intensity defend from the front approach, this will be essential. Plenty of players will also get a deal of playing time coming off the bench. Again, essential given the style we are likely to play. That's how Pilks, Adeyemi, Gunner, Kennedy and the likes will earn their crust. It will need to be a squad effort.

Don't think we need to add numbers to the squad though some additional quality wouldn't be turned down, though would need to be on a one in one out basis.

One question. Wilson seems to have had some game time in the last week. What's happened to Moore? Not heard him mentioned, but might have missed it. Always though he's done ok for us when he's played.

Remote - I read a blog last week that reckons Moore is reported to be signing for Charlton next week on season long loan as first choice keeper for Slade. That's why we haven't seen him.

Maybe a load of bollucks but the Charlton guy that wrote is is usually pretty well on the money. If that is the case then Marshie is going nowhere and we need someone else brought on board not just have Wilson in the frame.

Thanks Sparkey. That would explain it. It would do Moore good to get a season under his belt. Marshie isn't getting any younger. Nice to see we have a succession of keepers on the books. It's hard to keep them all happy. We've had a few over the last few seasons and have had to let a few go. Heaton was always good for us and is doing very well.

2nd choice keeper must be the hardest role at a club. You're never going to get subbed on for 20 mins here or there and are right in the spotlight if you do get a game or two. No chance to play yourself in just in at the deep end.

As an aside, where do young keepers come from? Everyone seems to buy their keepers, but they must come from somewhere!!!

Good article in WM today by Phil Smith on the players best suited to the 3-5-2 & 4-3-3 formations.

Cannot seem to get a link up to post.<sorry> Worth a look though.

Do one - it's not big, it's not clever & I can't wait to see the 2nd city, from the third world, get their come uppance when they play better teams unlike flat track bullying relegation certainties.

swansea as usual just punching above their weight.

Steady on there! That's no way to speak to Wales Premier league club supporter, and as for 'third world' that will be splot aye.

'Punching above our weight" oh yes, for 6 seasons and counting!! Maybe you should try it, you've tried everything else, can highly recommend it, maybe you should give playing in red a go again......... <laugh>
