Go for it and try and get the away goal or just protect what we have? I think last night Jose set a Blueprint as to how teams should play against Barca. As bad as refereeing decisions were I felt the ultimate turning point was when Drogba missed that one on one at the Camp Nou in the first half, with an away goal, there would have been no way back for Barca IMO. We need to learn from mistakes and try and get the away goal, I just can't see us keeping Barca out for 90 minutes and not sure my heart could take a 90 minute onslaught with Xavi and Iniesta playing in constant defence splitting through balls. Lessons have to be learnt. What tactic should we use?
Playing for a 0-0 draw is usually very dangerous, especially against Barca! We have to play how we did the other night, compact and organised and try and penetrate a very weak defence (in my opinion). Remember at the start of the home leg, Drogba went 1v1 and would've done a second time too if it wasn't for a poor touch. I didn't mean to click 0-0
Playing for 0-0 at Barca will usually not work. But if there is one team who can do this, I reckon it'd be Chelsea. An away goal would be vital, but if you start attacking them it will be easy for them. We scored against them without taking a shot on goal, and our 'gameplan' nearly worked if we hadn't had an awful ref who decided to send van persie off. Anyway Good Luck.
You should (and will) sit back and play very narrow and let them have it out wide. Make the game congested and try and get a goal or two on the break or from a set piece. That is my advice. Barca seem to be very beatable this season. I think the reason behind that is that Xavi hasnt been as good this year. Maybe he is starting to decline now and as he declines so will barca. Xavi is the key man for barca.
Same as, defend as we did in the previous leg and try & nick one one the break. Can't see it any other way!
Be warned the ref for the game is a 35 year old turk who is very inexperienced. I'd just go all out and try **** em up fifa style ( 4-2-4 ) but realistically i'd say you should play like you did in the home leg but you have to try and win more set-pieces as that is where they struggle and you excel
Probably not enough, Barca have already offered him a waterfront house on the Turkish coast , and Platini has thrown in a 50 footer moored out front !!! In any event, one goal is NEVER enough. Play as we did at home, but stick it up em a bit more, they don't like it and they get grumbly. However, I'm confident Robbie will read all our advice, then ignore us and do it his way !!!!
Park the bus early on ..... the longer the game goes on barca will start to panic and start bombarding then you just gotta counter and steal that away goal which should seal it PS Hope you guys get hammered for obvious reasons
We need to be focused and be very patient. We need to absorb their attack and let them expose themselves at the back, then hit them on the counter. Hopefully we can score first, to which their reponse will be to push hard, at which point we can just counter again. As long as we are focus and disciplined, we should do alright.
Hopefully the ref will do well - I suspect Turkey is one of the most intimidating places in the world to be a ref. I think you have to do something different from at the Bridge where they missed an awful lot of chances despite Chelsea playing pretty well. Perhaps try Wigan's 343/541 hybrid?
The mid-field choices will be very important for RdM. The team must aspire to match the movement of Barca in the middle of the park to cancel them out. Huge opportunity to make the final!
